It's barely been a week since the hotly-contested, highly-anticipated sequel to Valve Corporation's zombie-survival game, Left 4 Dead 2 (Xbox 360, PC), has been released, and already, we're hearing talks of a sequel to the sequel. Are we going to hear of another round of boycotts, then?

Australians are tired of getting the short end of the gaming stick. The lack of an R18+ rating on the OFLC means that games with mature or adult content can easily be refused classification and subsequently banned. They're not taking that lying down. In fact, gamers Down Under are planning to march and hold a rally demanding the implementation of an R18+ rating.

Hmmm... crowbars and blood spatters on the camera. Maybe that's why the OFLC banned Left 4 Dead 2 (Xbox 360, PC)? But look! It would seem that Left 4 Dead 2 (Xbox 360, PC) just keeps surprising Valve. "I thought Left 4 Dead 2 would get the same treatment as Left 4 Dead 1 (Xbox 360 and PC)," said Gabe Newell. "So I was a little surprised [by the decision]." He would be referring to the recent refusal of Australia's OFLC to classify the zombie sequel. No matter, though, they're out to get that approval, and yes, they have officially appealed the decision.

Here's a bit of semi-good news for Australian gamers. Even with Left 4 Dead 2 (Xbox 360, PC) effectively banned in Australia, Valve is not giving up. They're still in the process of making sure that gamers in the region will get something come the game's supposed launch date.

Electronic Arts has said their piece on the Australian ban of Left 4 Dead 2 (Xbox 360, PC), and now Valve has acted on the action too. Reports have come in that Valve has indeed appealed to the OFLC on the classification - or total absence thereof - of their zombie sequel as of Wednesday.

Valve's Left 4 Dead 2 (Xbox 360, PC) is just the latest casualty of the Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification's stringent -- and, for most Australian gamers, draconic -- adherence to their ratings guidelines. Publisher EA Australia said last week that they're "still working through the submission process with OFLC." It seems they've since become much more candid about the issue, however, as they've finally issued a comment.

That image you see above is Australia's OFLC's webpage for Left 4 Dead 2 (Xbox 360, PC). That "RC" Classification you see right there stands for "Refused Classification." That's right, the Left 4 Dead 2 zombies aren't making their way to Australia.

Just in time for a February 10 release in North America, FEAR 2: Project Origin has now gone gold for all of its platform versions, namely the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

We finally have news of what Atari changed in Silent Hill: Homecoming so that it could be reclassified by the OFLC ratings board and get itself out of "banned" status. Originally, the OFLC refused to give the game a rating because of some disturbing scenes involving a drill, but now, they've managed to curb around that.
