Wolverine - Image 1The bad boy of the X-Men once again shows us how bad (and a little crazy) he can get. Well if I heal quickly and have adamantium blades shooting up and down my knuckles, heck, I'd be as wild as he is. Anyway, here's yet another trailer for X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, PSP), where our boy takes on fellow X-Man Gambit, and the immovable Blob.

R.U.S.E. - Image 1Add one more title to the list of RTS games. Ubisoft has just announced a new one called R.U.S.E, is a "one-of-a-kind" RTS game set during World War II whose main selling point seems to be a feature that lets players bluff and deceive their way to victory.

WCP2 for PSP this July - Image 1WCP2 for PSP this July - Image 2

Oxygen Games sent QJ.net an email concerning two of its poker video game titles namely World Championship Poker 2 for the PlayStation Portable and World Championship Poker 2: All In for Xbox 360. It seems that fans are having a hard time to distinguish the two games from each other.

According to Oxygen, the Xbox 360 version of the title is very different from the PSP one. To begin with, All In is not just a subtitle as it indicates that it's a follow up to predecessor World Championship Poker 2. The PSP version now, alongside its PC and PS2 brothers, are that predecessor.

Much has been said about WCP2: All In but WCP2 for the handheld console is oftentimes neglected because of the confusion. Take note that the PSP game allows players online multiplayer options for up to eight people. There are also mini games available that can only be found in the WCP2. These are:
  • Flop Odds: the player gets certain hold cards, plus a target hand type and has to figure out the percentage chance of getting the specified hand when the board cards would be shown
  • Know the Nuts: the player is shown the community cards for a hand and then given the option to select the hole cards they need to make the best hand
  • Hold 'em Nicknames: players are prompted with a nickname for a set of cards and have to use the directional buttons to match up the suit and value of each card with the specified nickname
  • Tell Quiz: the player is given multiple choice questions that will train them to spot opponents tells
  • Know Your Outs: in this game, the player is shown their hole cards, the community cards and a guess as to what the opponent has. Based on this information, they must try to figure out the exact numbers of "outs" (the number of specific cards that can help to beat opponents)
  • Glossary Quiz: The player will be given multiple choice questions about Poker game terminology
There. That should finally clear the confusion. Lastly both World Championship Poker 2 and World Championship Poker 2: All In will be available this July.

Poker game - Image 1A poker tournament involving 120 players from all over the game industry squared off at the GDC and played for the benefit of the Starlight Starbright Children's foundation, raising $24,000 in the process.

Lee Jacobson of Midway Home Entertainment was the supreme winner and took home a huge 37" Philips flatscreen TV. "I'm thrilled I won," said Jacobson. "But most importantly, the winners are the kids and their families. We played for them. I can't wait to come back next year and defend my title."

Equally thrilled was ISM Senior Partner Stew Kosoy who said "We were delighted to see so many people turn up to compete for fun and for charity." He then thanked the event's sponsors for the attractive prizes.

Two months after owning every casino and poker house in the Americas, Chris "Jesus" Ferguson finally heads to Australia to look for a new apprentice. And mind you, he's not coming alone. He's bringing with him top caliber poker players such as Joseph Hachem, Phil "Unabomber" Laak, Jennifer Tilly, and lots of copies of World Series of Poker: Tournament of Champions (X360, PSP).

Err, actually, nobody is coming. It's just that the game is finally available in the Australian market. Like all the other versions elsewhere, the game features more than 20 top pros, extensive poker tools and of course, the very interesting DigiMask Technology for the console version. Also, the console version has an expanded Live and multi-table tournaments.

WCP

The popularity of Poker hasn't waned a bit. And to prove our point, Crave Entertainment has upped the ante and released the third installment of the best-selling poker video game, World Championship Poker: Featuring Howard Lederer "All In" for the Xbox 360.

There are no signs of slowing down for this video game franchise as more successful poker stars keep making an appearance. Aside from Howard, his sister Annie Duke and Robert Williamson III joins this year's roster of poker superstars which already includes Marcel Luske, Thomas Bihl, and Erin Ness.

The Xbox 360 version features more detailed environments and cinematic view for added realism. It supports Xbox Live Vision and text chat, which allow players to see and talk to their opponents.
