Gearbox Software - Image 1Back in February 2008, Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford said that he was directing a new project that was as big as a project can get. Somehow, that statement got turned into a rumor that Gearbox was working on a Halo game. Yeah, I'm not sure how that line of thinking started, but in any case, Microsoft has flat out denied it.

Aliens: Colonial Marines - Image 1Gearbox Software's Aliens: Colonial Marines (PS3, Xbox 360) was first announced three years ago. Originally, it was supposed to come out last year, but it was rescheduled for a mid-2009 release. We're now coming to the end of mid-2009 but the game's still nowhere in sight. Gearbox says it's still coming, though. Just not this year.

Borderlands - Image 1Borderlands (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC) kinda dropped out of the radar after we all heard about the "OMG 650,000 guns in-game!" thing from Gearbox president Randy Pitchford. Those waiting for the game can rest assured, though, as it is apparently still a go for release this year.

Borderlands - Image 1I admit, I did a bit of a double take myself when I heard that Borderlands (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC) has hundreds of thousands of weapons. Of course, most of these weapons will likely be variations that only have a tiny bit of difference from one another, but still, that's a heck of a lot of guns. What's even more impressive is that according to Gearbox president Randy Pitchford, they've actually increased the number to well past the half-million mark.

More info abound the highly-anticipated Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in this video interview with Executive Producer Randy Pitchford. In it, we learn more about how much of the video game was painstakingly modeled to reflect their real-life counterparts, what Hell's Highway actually is, and see just how fast and frantic the actual gunfights are in-game.

Besides the backstory, the part that really got our attention was the game's squad combat mechanic forming a pretty large chunk of the game. Players will be able to lead multiple squads and order them around. We've all seen this sort of mechanic before in other shooters, but the actual activity of doing so felt clunky at best, moreso when there's a firefight going on. If you're worried about that, then watch closely at the gameplay bits. You'll notice that the actual commanding is fast, smooth, and effortless - and this, during a full-on enemy confrontation.

There's also some other stuff that's to take note of, namely how sweet everything looks. From the grenade explosions to the completely destructible environments, Ubisoft's Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway is definitely a title to watch out for as it marches on towards its Holiday 2007 release.

Press blackout for Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway ends, new details to be released soon - Image 1

Gearbox Software founder Randy Pitchford has announced that the press blackout for the game Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway is over. This is good news for fans of the game who have been dying to find out more details about it. He said that the game is not only worth the wait but that it also "will be the best WW2 action game ever released."

Pitchford has been setting this up for a couple of months now, he gave the details of it in his post on the GBX forums.

Colonel Antal and I are spending the entire month at press events meeting with journalists from all over the world. By the end of May, news and information should start trickling out. Then, the trickle will turn into a stream. I'm going to be on the road pretty much non-stop until the last week of May.

That's all well and good and a lot of the fans have been information-starved for about a year now. Questions have already been posted such as "when will it be released?" or "Will it have realistic gun-sounds?" have already been asked. Slated for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and the PC, let's wait and see if this game is really "worth the wait".
