Game of Life - Image 1One concerned mother was spending some quality time with her daughter while playing The Game of Life, a video game adaptation of Milton Bradley's board game. To her surprise, the supposedly child-friendly title allows same-sex marriages to occur - something that she was not prepared to explain to her 6-year-old daughter. She later writes to conservative Christian site, WorldNetDaily, to air her story. Read more.

On-the-fly character switching action and sick team attack dynamics coming your way in these two new gameplay videos of Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer for the PS3, PC and Xbox 360. It's not often we see how an almost random mishmash of super powers actually work well, so these are definitely worth a look.

The first video, Co-op, shows how you can easily switch between Reed, Sue, Ben and Johnny (that's Mr. Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, Thing and the Human Torch) at any time to solve puzzles or take advantage of their abilities in order to progress through the game. This also holds true in battles, as we see the player constantly switching between the four characters to lay the most painful smackdown possible on those unfortunate enough to be in the way. Clobberin' time, baby!

The second video, Team Up, shows some of the stunning "team-up" moves you can perform with multiple members of the Fantastic Four. For example, Reed can use his powers of mind-boggling elasticity to lift the Thing into the air, and then snap him back down into terra firma with a whip-like smashing action, causing a shockwave that can devastate an entire mob of enemies. It should be noted that while the attack is useful for crowd control it could prove to be useless against bosses as they tend not to stick in one place - causing the team-up maneuver to miss entirely.

It's every man's dream, the blonde and the brunette, the ice cream cone with vanilla and chocolate. There's something delightfully fulfilling about taking two of the things we love the most and squishing them together in a big gooey mess of sweet peanut butter and jelly-like goodness.

In videogame terms it would be Mario meeting Sonic, or Liu Kang trading blows with Ryu... or else it could be Master Chief meeting Marcus Fenix. Watch the video below and witness one fan's love letter to the houses that gave us these two titans, cut to the sounds of Gary Jules' "Mad World". Let us know what you think of Lunchbox's efforts in the comments below.

Elveon

We cover the length and breadth of Naon, and submit to you our findings

Elveon is a title that gamers have kind of ignored, for whatever reason, maybe because it's not Gears of War, or Mass Effect, or Lost Planet, however, having seen the game in action behind closed doors at E3, we can tell you here and now that Elveon could very well be something quite special when it hits next year.

We've pooled our resources here at QJ to come up with every scrap of info we have on the game in order to present this glimpse into 10tacle Studios Epic Elvish action RPG.

Call of Duty 3

Some nifty footage from Activision's next entry in its World War 2 first person shooter franchise, Call of Duty 3, has come to light. What we've got here is a soldier moving carefully through a war torn environment even as shells explode and buildings crumble all around him. There's also a cool segment that gives you an idea of how hand to hand combat will work in-game. Though this footage comes from the Xbox 360 version, what we've heard is that the PS3 version will sport a few extra light sources among other minor visual flourishes (cue flame wars). Before you start though, I should add that it is expected that both iterations will be nearly indistiguishable from one another.

K1lla's interview with Don Wurster, Co-Director/Developer for Gastronaut Studios, has unearthed tons of info about the battle frenzied game Small Arms for the Xbox 360 Live Arcade. Before you get too excited, be aware that the game is currently in development so the screenshots are not from the final build. Check out the gameplay video.

In Small Arms, up to four players can duke it out using a set of interchangeable "gun arms". Each player starts with an initial weapon and can grab new ones as the game progresses. The game can be described as a hybrid fighting/platforming/shooting game. It will contain a number of interactive elements that makes the game even more fun.

With 10-12 characters in the game, some people who have viewed the gameplay video were reminded of Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. series. Wurster dismissed the "Super Smash Bros. Clone" tag and explains that Small Arms' combat focuses on ranged attacks, making it more of a tactical game. Despite the cartoonish characters, the weapons and environments give the game a gritty feel than most Nintendo titles, quite fitting for an Xbox 360 Live Arcade game.

If the 12 character casting isn't enough, then you'd be happy to know that there are plans to release additional characters on Marketplace. Some of them will be unlockable as you play the game.

Without giving too much away, Wurster talks about the different weapons of the initial characters.

'Marky Kat' is our cyborg cat character who sports a 'chain gun' as his default weapon. The primary attack is a rapid fire stream of bullets, while the secondary is a shotgun type burst shot. Another character 'Mr Truffles' is an assassin truffle pig who uses a sniper rifle as his default weapon. The primary attack is a deadly accurate sniper rifle with a laser sight. As a secondary attack, the sniper rifle provides 'proximity mines' which you can leave behind around the level for unsuspecting opponents. There are also a number of less traditional weapons, such as one that shoots multiple boomerang like saw blades, and a mysterious psychic glove.

The release date of the game is yet to be determined but Wurster estimates an end of summer launch.
