The ASDA logo - Image 1Resident gamers in the UK may want to take heed, as supermarket chain ASDA announced a series of bargains that may interest them. The franchise' online store has recently gone on a (price) slasher binge, which will allow visitors to purchase games for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii consoles for up to less than £ 20. Here are a couple of samples:
  • Xbox 360:
    • Prey - £ 12.97 (US$ 25.6)
    • Dynasty Warriors 5: Empires - £ 13.97 (US$ 27.6)
    • Splinter Cell: Double Agent - £ 15.97 (US$ 31.6)
    • Ninety-Nine Nights - £ 16.97 (US$ 33.6)
  • PlayStation 3:
  • Wii:
    • Rampage - Total Destruction - £ 14.97 (US$ 29.6)
    • Spider-Man 3 - £ 29.97 (US$ 59.3)
These are just samplers of the rest of ASDA online's line up - interested shoppers are invited to click on the read link to see the full list. On a related note, MCV UK indicates that these discounts are the chain's efforts to stay ahead of its supermarket rivals. It will also be noted that ASDA is a subsidiary of America's Wal-Mart chain.

So far it looks to be something that's more than just sexy ladies in skimpy clothing. For now, click play and check out the gameplay yourselves. Enjoy!

Anyway, if Tamsoft's Oneechanbara Vortex fails to reach North American shores, than you guys can always import.

F.E.A.RWe're already fast entering Halloween season, so better have your spook essentials in check. Scary mask? Check. Urban legends? Check. Slasher movies? Check. Fear? Oh we've got that alright. Double check.

F.E.A.R's (First Encounter Assault Recon) X06 trailer shows what a horror-themed game is all about - a mysterious one namer girl in a red dress. But, a creepy little girl can only sustain the suspense for so long. Of course you'd have to be a new recruit, left alone in a very dangerous mission in an eerie town because all your comrades got violently killed by an unknown force or entity. Then, you have a horror-themed game.

F.E.A.R is slated to be released by Vivendi some time this November. There is nothing to fear but F.E.A.R itself. Boo.

Dead Rising

The sensational zombie-slasher from Capcom for the Xbox 360, Dead Rising, will not appear in Germany. Apparently the USK, the people who test the appropriateness of games, didn't like the way you can hack, slash, kill and maim the zombies. This is especially odd because a number of years ago the same group did approve the infamous game Carmageddon, in which you had to drive over people for points (although human pedestrians were replaced by zombies in the German version).

Censorship like that has been applied many times before on violent games in Germany, so the USK have most likely raised the bar on their standards when it comes to violent content. In a way it's pointless to ban the game from the shelves, because the people who really want to play this will just order it online or make a trip to their neighboring countries (Netherlands for example). Somehow I doubt that Capcom wants to replace their zombies with robots, it would ruin the whole game short of a rename to Dead Rebooting.

Dead Rising is scheduled for release on September 15 this year, but since the game has been delayed many times before we can't be sure of this. This will be an Xbox 360 exclusive.
