Mention Shenmue III to any Shenmue fan and you'll probably get one of two reactions: a breakdown followed by uncontrollable sobbing or a vicious and expletive -filled rant against Sega. While that series doesn't seem to be getting any closure anytime soon, series protagonist Ryo Hazuki is making a comeback of sorts. In Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, no less.

Sonic fans are a dedicated lot. No matter the depths recent Sonic games have sunk to, they're still there, waiting for the spiky speedster to race back into glory. There are also the very few who take their dedication to new heights -- fans like Rich Kuta, who is actually making a feature-length animated Sonic film.

Sega's teasing something new with an interactive countdown site and a whole lot of balls. "Interactive" because the timer doesn't even show the countdown automatically. You have to click on a lever to get the number to change. Good one, Sega. Make 'em work for it!

The PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade launch of Sega's online-enabled downloadable version of Gunstar Heroes has been dated for a post-E3 appearance along with the XBLA-only Sega Vintage Collection 2. Details after the jump.

Sega's going digital with their classics - and in reworked high definition graphics too. Announcing a summer release, they're confirming previous rumors: Gunstar Heroes from the Genesis era will be making its way to PSN and XBLA. Aside from that, six other Sega classic will also be released throughout the summer as part of the Sega Vintage Collection 2, all of the which will be XBLA-exclusive. Aww...

E3's still a month away, but the hype's building up and game industry bigwigs are already starting to give gamers a quick taste of what to expect at E3. Today, it was Sega's turn to reveal some of the titles they'll be showing off at the expo via their Twitter account.

Six year old Christer from Norway was tired of his name, and since he was a big fan of Sonic, he wanted to be named after his favorite video game character. In fact, he wanted it so bad that he actually wrote to King Harald V asking for permission to have his name legally changed to "Sonic X." The King must've found the story so cute that he replied. Mario games have always been popular in the UK, and Super Mario Galaxy proves it by beating out the likes of Fallout 3, Fable II, and even GTA IV for BAFTA's Best Game Award. The GAME Award this year goes to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, as voted on by gamers.
