Clive Barker's Jericho screenshots - featuring the Firstborn - Image 1Here are some new screenshots for the upcoming horror-themed FPS Clive Barker's Jericho straight from Codemasters. The game will be hitting retail stores on October 26 for platforms Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

A demo for each build of the title was recently released. Anyway, we believe that one of the most important things FPS titles should have is a good background story and Clive Barker's Jericho is certainly not lacking in that department.

The game features God's first creation before Adam and Eve, the Firstborn. These creatures are neither light nor dark and they are both terrible and beautiful to look at. God then banished them into the Abyss because of their imperfection.

Since then, a secret order has always trained seven warriors to prevent the Firstborn from escaping. This is where players come in as they step into the shoes of the leader of the Jericho Squad. Each member of the team possesses uncanny abilities such as clairvoyance, alchemy, and exorcism among others.

It was recently reported that Germany's rating board USK is not going to rate Clive Barker's Jericho meaning that it's not going to be advertised, displayed, and sold in the said country.

Clive Barker's Jericho - Image 1News surfaced yesterday that the USK has refused to give Codemasters' Clive Barker's Jericho (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) a rating. Without a rating, the game cannot be sold to minors and cannot be displayed or openly advertised.

In response to the USK decision, Codemasters has announced that it will not be releasing the console versions of the game in Germany. Instead, only the PC version of Clive Barker's Jericho will be released in that particular territory. Here's a snippet off Codemasters' announcement:

Codemasters respects Mr Barker's creative ideas, despite the German distribution and marketing consequences for the title. Therefore Codemasters will release only the PC version of Clive Barker's Jericho in its original form for adult gamers and Clive Barker fans.

Clive Barker's Jericho is currently scheduled for an October 26 European release. Demos for all three versions of the game are coming this week.

Clive Barker's Jericho - Image 1German site Heise Online reports of how the USK has denied giving Clive Barker's Jericho a rating. In Germany, for a game to not have a rating by the USK means that it cannot be sold to minors and isn't allowed to be put on display or openly advertised. So it's kind of like porn?

Moving on, some might remember that this is also what happened to Gears of War in the same region. And while Stranglehold got banned altogether, at least Jericho's still up for sale - albeit a bit restricted.

This affects all platform releases of the game: PC, PS3, Xbox 360. Now it's also interesting to note that Sony and Microsoft have signed contracts that they won't be releasing games if they didn't get a USK rating. Does this mean that the PS3 and 360 version won't be sold in Germany? If so, only the PC version could be made available. Made available for those over 18, to be specific.

Warhammer: Battle March - Image 1

About two weeks back, we reported that Warhammer: Mark of Chaos was heading to the Xbox 360, according to the German ratings board USK. Well, today we finally got confirmation straight from Namco Bandai. But wait, there's more. The announcement also included Warhammer: Mark of Chaos - Battle March, an expansion for the PC version.

First off, the Xbox 360 version of Warhammer will be called Warhammer: Battle March. According to the release, the console version will be sporting content from the PC version, with spanking new features, online play via Xbox Live, and intuitive controls.

Warhammer: Battle March will be featuring six armies to choose from, as opposed to the original PC version's four. Army customization will be available so you'll be able to tell your soldiers apart from others, and you can also make your units as scary as possible to wreck havoc into your enemies' hearts.

Players will also be able to control Hero and Champion units that progress as you play the game. Two control schemes will be available, one for the novice players while the other one is more advance. Online multiplayer on Xbox Live can support up to four players in two modes, head-to-head skirmishes or team-based war.

Warhammer: Mark of Chaos - Battle March on the other hand will sport additional content for the PC version. The expansion's content will include new units for each army, online modes, and an original campaign. The number of armies are also expanded to six to include the Empire, Chaos, Skaven, High Elves, plus the new Dark Elf and Orcs & Goblins forces (same armies as the Xbox 360 version).

Sound interesting? Before you start bouncing off the walls, note that Warhammer: Battle March and Warhammer: Mark of Chaos - Battle March are scheduled for release next year. We'll keep our eyes peeled for more info, so stay tuned. In the meantime, feel free to admire the screenshots for both the Xbox 360 and PC versions at the Full Article link.

Take Two - Image 1Looks like the recent deluge of media flak that Take-Two Interactive has been getting won't be slowing it down. They have just announced a sequel to their mobster game Mafia and will be unveiling a trailer during the Leipzig Games Convention.

However, as of yet there's no real info on the game aside from the trailer being rated for 16 years or older by Germany's USK.

As it stands, Mafia 2 has been in development since 2003 and was first thought to to be released for the Xbox and the PS2, but it could be making a beeline for the next-gen series. No platforms have been confirmed yet though, so all we have to do is wait in anticipation.

Castlevania Aria of Sorrow - Image 1If the new game trailer entries added in the Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle (or USK, the German game ratings board) site listed to be shown in Leipzig are to be taken into consideration, we're going to see Castlevania: Aria or Sorrow making a comeback, and a game named Silent Hill Orphan coming our way.

There's no other news regarding the upcoming Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow trailer, not even what platform the remake (assuming that it is indeed a remake, and not a typographical error in USK's part) will be released on, but we can just let our imagination fly and guess that Castlevania: AoS will be released for the Nintendo DS, the platform of its direct sequel, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow.

As for Silent Hill Orphan, it may very well be Silent Hill 5's final name, but there's no concrete news to prove it. However, think about this: since Silent Hill sequels on the consoles are usually titled with their corresponding number - with the exception of the handheld PSP's Silent Hill: Origins - it's entirely possible that there's yet another Silent Hill video game for the handheld, for the Nintendo DS perhaps?

Other noteworthy entries that were listed in the USK are Tekken: Dark Resurrection Online and Metal Gear Solid 4 - Camp Trailer. Since the trailers are listed in the German USK game ratings board, it looks like some bombshells are going to be dropped in the upcoming Leipzig Games Convention.

Warhammer: Mark of Chaos - Image 1A listing on German ratings board Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle (USK) has revealed that Namco Bandai's Warhammer: Mark of Chaos will be heading to the Microsoft Xbox 360 video game console.

Warhammer: Mark of Chaos is a real-time tactics title developed by Black Hole Entertainment and released late last year for Windows PCs. Gameplay is focused primarily on battle tactics, and the standard base-building, resource harvesting and unit production aspect of RTS titles is not present.

The title will supposedly be published by Koch Media GmbH. Further details have yet to be revealed, but Warhammer: Mark of Chaos' release date has been rumored to be set for October of this year. An official confirmation of the game has also yet to be announced.

BioShock - Image 1The BioShock demo on the Xbox 360 is now officially on board. Well, in a sense, at least. It's not technically on board Xbox Live just yet, but we may as well expect it to arrive within the next two weeks.

German rating board (oh that kind of "on board") USK just tested out the BioShock demo and they've now given it the green light. They've given it an adult rating - not a big surprise - already.

From that, a lot of folks online have now assumed that it's bound to surface on XBL pretty soon, especially since that the game itself is coming out on retail by August 21 in the US.

Keep your eyes on the prize: we'll let you guys know as soon as it hits the Marketplace.

Marathon spotted on USK - Image 1

Before Halo, there was Marathon. For the guys a couple of exp points short in their PC-gaming lore, this game is among Bungie Software's more well-known titles, and was originally released for the Macintosh platform. Marathon puts players behind the controls of a superhuman cyborg (Master Chief, is that you?) as they fight for control of Marathon, a spaceship under the United Earth Space Council (UNSC) (UESC).

The game has become the target of today's bit of speculation, as word is out that the USK - Germany's answer to our own ESRB - has already rated Marathon: Durandal for the Xbox 360. This in turn means a possible release into Xbox Live Arcade, which further means that we might be getting a taste of this old FPS classic. Of course, we'll just have to wait for official word from either Microsoft or Bungie on this matter, although it'd make sense - things have been slowing down ever since Halo 3 beta's conclusion.
