It looks like another high profile game has slipped the noose and found its way to Wal-Mart once again. This time it's Harmonix's Rock Band that saw its scheduled November 20 release date broken.

Darklor, a member of the official Rock Band forums, reported buying a copy of Rock Band from a Wal-Mart branch in New York.

If you've just gotten home from Wal-Mart after buying the recently released Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (PC, Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, Wii) by Harmonix, then we seriously hope you checked the packaging before you made your purchase. Many people have been complaining that the retail version of the game sold at Wal-Mart contains stock guitar controllers dating back from the previous Guitar Hero.

Reports from Torchy, a poster at the ScoreHero forums, confirmed that people shopping at Wal-Mart are getting Xplorers in Xbox 360 bundles and Red SGs in PlayStation bundles instead of the long advertised Les Paul-styled guitar controllers for the game.

LocalH, another poster from the forums, provided a picture of the PS bundled version for Guitar Hero III below:

  

We also have an image of the Xplorer controller included with the Xbox 360 bundle; unfortunately it also depicts the irate customer expressing his frustration in a rather... graphic manner in it as well. In any case, the retailers from Wal-Mart have a lot of explaining to do with regards to the missing Les Paul controller previously advertised.
