So we all know that The Simpsons Game (Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, DS, Wii) from Electronic Arts is going to spoof a handful of contemporary game titles. But do we really know just how far they're going to take it? With titles such as Shadow of the Colossal Donut and God of Wharf, our curiosity has been piqued - and this new trailer successfully sates it.

Now, with this latest trailer of the game that features Medal of Homer (no points as to what game it's lampooning), it's probably safe to say that they're going to take the laughs into an epic level. Yes, complete with the grainy black-and-white filters and the brass instrument-filled soundtrack.

Yes, Bart and Homer are at it again, taking the fight on a besieged aircraft carrier, a mine field, and even inside a medieval castle that looks suspiciously like Castle Wolfenstein. Featuring cel-shaded visuals, hilarious set pieces and abilities, not to mention authentic voice acting - The Simpsons Game looks to be a blast, and this trailer definitely puts that point across.

The video embed's below, you know what to do. Enjoy!

QuakeCon is proving to be one hell of a ride so far and one of the highlights of this big bash is the unveiling of the new Enemy Territory: Quake Wars trailer. When you want to talk about making an impression, you don't look any further than this clip. Have a look:

Not a lot of games have the honor of following a franchise that defines a genre, but this one has the distinction of walking up to two sets of golden footsteps. For one, it's a follow up to Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, but it's also set in the same universe as Quake II and Quake 4. A bit confusing? You'll have to wait to see everything come together.

These colliding worlds will take place on the PC and rivalling platforms Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360. Similar to Quake III Arena, it focuses on multiplayer gameplay. Bots can be added to enrich the fun with huge maps, aircraft and vehicles.

First off, if you hate spoilers, you have no business reading the succeeding paragraphs. Just back away from this one, read another QJ article and be completely happy playing this nice title. Skipping this one won't ruin your life, we assure you.

Still reading? Don't say we didn't warn you. If you haven't bought The Simpsons yet but are planning to, you'll either be real happy or real pissed with what you'll find out. This is your last chance to back off.

Destructoid reports that EA gave them a spoiler of sorts regarding this title. It turns out that there's a Wolfenstein level hidden in the game which can be unlocked. For the uninitiated, Castle Wolfenstein was one of the fathers of FPS and is certainly an icon of modern gaming.

Destructoid explains "in the Medal of Homer stage, Bart and Homie are hired to steal white flags from a town trying to surrender so that they can get firebombed. However, if you put your chores aside and transform into Bartman and fly across the channel you can snake around an abandoned warehouse and find the hidden area. Smash a few boxes out of your way and you'll find a door to Duffenstein, a replica of the great old-school FPS Castle Wolfenstein."

So there you have it. If you feel like revisiting the old school, The Simpsons will give you a chance to get some nostalgic treats. Otherwise, just enjoy the game and the nice movie, too. The Simpsons is available on Sony PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo DS and Sony PSP owners everywhere.

Though it's probably a stunner to hear from the makers of Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake and all other iterations of the first-person shooter forerunners, id Software decided that it was high time they laid down their side of the gaming violence controversy, oft opposed by one crusading Florida lawyer.

id Software: gaming could create 'a more peaceful world' - Image 1

If Take Two wasn't high in the possibly politically-driven campaign against games, it was Doom that critics often placed the blame on for violence sparking from video games. The Columbine massacre was one such tragedy linked to id Software. Caught in the middle of all the heated discussion, id appeared to have let out a heavy sigh in an interview with Games Industry and speak out on gaming from the gamer's perspective.

"I think the media is always looking for stuff to make headlines, and they sensationalize things. They take something that they know will make news and they run with it and then figure out whether it's true or not later," said CEO Todd Hollenshead.

SplashDamage - Image 1Attention all you artists who want to break into the gaming business: Splash Damage, renowned makers of such high-profile games as the Wolfenstein franchise and the upcoming blaster Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, is recruiting artists who can help them out with the development of current and upcoming titles.

The development team wants to hire some enthusiastic and driven artists who can bring energy and fresh concepts to the table. If you have at least a couple of years of experience, you might be eligible. Of course, it wouldn't hurt to have been in a team that's been developing some top-tier content through the years.

The employment package is pretty nice and is open to international application with relocation assistance and VISA sponsorship. You'll even have a total of 20 days of vacation and eight days of bank holidays.

Knowing how development teams are paid, this deal should be a sweet one. Nothing beats drawing up big guns, aliens and demons for a living. The only thing they didn't include in the package is a retirement plan in the Bahamas. Follow the read URL to see the full requirements, job description and application procedure.

One of Raven Software's titles - Image 1

From the fame of Star Wars: Jedi Knight series, Quake 4, and several other titles: Raven Software is developing a new game under the wraps based on Wolfenstein, reports WISC-TV.

Raven designers claim that they're using new motion-capture technology found in Marvel Ultimate Alliance, which they said to be an invaluable asset. While they won't name the title or give more details, Raven did reveal that actress Carrie Coon will be the star.

To create a virtual character out of the actress, Coon wears a spandex suit with 63 reflective markers while 24 infrared cameras capture her movements. "You recognize yourself in it a little bit, but then, there's this fantasy element that's so fascinating," she said while discussing about her digital counterpart that would have different skins and costumes. To make her digital avatar complete, Raven will use a state-of-the-art face scanner and transform Coon to an elite assassin in-game.

Coon had previous experience with Madison Repertory Theater and American Players Theater before she got chosen to be Raven's new babe. She testifies:

"They had me kind of bust through doors with big guns and pretend I was an assassin being that didn't have a spine and club a body of something on the ground and sniff it. You know, it was one of the most bizarre audition experiences I've ever had in my life."

That's all we could gather for now, Raven Software is really touchy about the details. Can't blame them, the video game scene is a tough competition and you wouldn't want your secrets out. We'll make sure to cover any new info that Raven will reveal, so keep your eyes peeled.

WolfensteinIn case you've forgotten, let us remind you of the statement uttered by Id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead a few weeks ago regarding more of their classic titles appearing on XBLA: "Making the surprise announcement at X06 for DOOM worked out great, so I'll be tight lipped about anything specific for now." As promising as it sounded back then, we learned today that we'll all be getting more than what we actually wished for.

Graphic designer Kevin Cloud declared recently that their company, Id, and Wisconsin-based developer Raven Software, are currently working on a full-blown Castle Wolfenstein title. In case you guys are not aware (but you should be), Wolfenstein popularized the FPS genre for the PC. So in short, pay some homage rookies! Anyway, moving on...

"What we're doing with Wolfenstein is creating this one, large empire that is seamlessly loaded to the player as he explores his world," disclosed Cloud. Developer John Carmack, on the hand, said that "The Xbox 360 is the first console that I've ever worked with, that actually has development tools that are better for games than what we've got for the PC." With such words coming from the programmer extraordinaire, we can't help but feel giddy and excited.

No details are available for the
next-gen Wolfenstein...for now. Despite that, X360 gamers can definitely sleep sound tonight and dream of castles and first person shooters as Cloud leaves us with this parting statement: "Wolfenstein is really a way of redefining the way first person games are experienced."
