For all the wrestling fans, here's a treat for you. Gamespot scored an interview with Yuke's Media Creations developers of the newest pro-wrestling videogame, WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2008.
Yuke's Yoshiro Togiya (art director) and Takashi Takezawa (lead programmer) give an overview of the multiplatform WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2008 (PS3, Xbox360, Wii, PS2, PSP, and DS). The new animation system, the addition of ECW, the different fighting styles, and increased number weapons were mentioned. We also see a couple of the different fighting styles: dirty and high flier. For more info, you can check out the video interview below. You know the drill. Enjoy! |

Let's face it, wrestling is one of the most popular sports around. And what better way to enjoy it than to actually go into a deadly match against legendary wrestlers like The Rock - minus the physical pain. WWE Smackdown VS Raw delivers just that, with a roster of professional wrestlers which look nearly identical to their real world counterparts. Even in the ring, the fighters don't lose their visual acuity. They react and move just exactly how they should be without any flaws. The famed entrance and patent moves of each wrestler are also similar to the real thing. Based on the screenshots, there's no doubt that the developers did a great job on the visuals. The facial expressions realistically portray a wide range of emotions. Furthermore, the muscle definition for each character is also superbly clear, thanks to a proper combination of sweat and lighting. What makes things even more realistic is the three level blood system that the developers have promised. A cut would start off small, but after several body slamming and batterings to the body, the small cut would open up and eventually, blood would flow. Pre-order: [WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2007] |

Wrestling fans and action gamers alike have been waiting for Yuke's next slobberknocker, WWE Smackdown! vs. Raw 2007. With news of a possible cancellation of the PS3 version, and the announcement of its release for the X360, we're all waiting for the latest developments from Yuke and THQ. They've said that they're adding new features and improving the grappling controls for use with the analog sticks, but as to what the final roster will be, the kinds of special events they'll be putting in, and whether we'll actually get a fleshed-out story mode remains to be seen. We'll be looking closely into whatever plans Yuke and THQ has for the game, so keep your eyes peeled on QJ.
Till then, here are some screenshots of John Cena and Triple H whacking each other with chairs and ladders for your viewing pleasure. Thanks go to Gamespot for the screenies.
