V for Vendetta, Moore, Lloyd - Image 1We posted an article one month ago that invited readers to do a little thought exercise. Here's what we said: "On the 5th of November we're going to post an article or two about video games, gadgets, technology, and general geekness ... the things about video gaming and technology that ought not be forgotten."

So here's our list of some video gaming and technology moments worth remembering. Hope this gets you thinking (and feeling nostalgic too!). And we look forward to your comments (and arguments). What do you remember and wish that the world will never forget?

GTA IV - Image 1Xbox 360 fans better watch out for the latest issue of GamerZines' latest issue of the 360Zine as it's loaded with lengthy previews of the biggest games headed the Microsoft console's way this season. What's the best part? The publication is free!

Bannering the issue are white-hot prospects Halo 3 by Bungie and Grand Theft Auto IV by Rockstar games. The two are expected to create a major splash when they hit and the anticipation is off the charts.

Halo 3 has already been shown off as a beta to a selected group of gamers. Aside from insider information, the 360Zine's preview will give emphasis on the impressions of beta testers on just how their experience with the title went along. It's four pages worth of text and images that would be a shame to miss. GTA IV will also get a full preview with new details on the same volume.

Also lined up for previewing in the issue are previews of jaw-droppers Call of Duty 4, Project Gotham Racing 4 and Devil May Cry 4. For you fellas who are in the market for a new title, reviews of Colin McRae DiRT, Forza Motorsport 2 and Shadowrun are in store to help you decide.

360Zine is a GamerZine, published for free in PDF format. Readers simply require a copy of the free Adobe Reader (version 6 or above) to read the magazines. We'll inform you when the issue discussed is out.

360Zine - Image 1Wondering what's new with free magazine 360Zine? A free new issue, that's what! In case you've forgotten, the good folks responsible for this decided to have it on a monthly basis because of the warm welcome received by the pilot issue.

And even though it's free, don't get the impression that 360Zine is low in quality. According to 360Zine publishing director Dave Taylor, the group tries to push the boundaries of games journalism with each issue.

Issue 3 contains the embedded video, the interactive quizzes and animated screenshots that had helped previous issues capture people's imagination, but the ability to give readers not just the interview in print, but the complete audio within the magazine is fantastic.

In case you're wondering what Issue 3 has to offer, we made a list of the topics available inside. The third issue of 360Zine can be downloaded via the Read link below. You will need a copy of Adobe reader version 6 or higher to read it.

Good news to Xbox 360 fans: the free gamer magazine 360Zine has just announced that not only will they STAY free, but now they'll also be releasing monthly issues, starting right now with issue #2. According to their publishing director Dave Taylor, this move was prompted by the "incredible" positive response that their pilot issue has received.

So as not to disappoint, this month's issue of 360Zine has an exclusive interview with GoW's Cliffy B, as well as previews of titles such as Halo 3 and Fable 2. Then, of course, comes the reviews, and this month's guinea pigs include Lost Planet, Star Trek Legacy, DOAX-2, as well as a run-down of the latest XBLA releases.

The magazine is published in enhanced PDF format, so you'll need the free Adobe Acrobat v6 or higher.

amazon.comDecember 11 will go down the history of Amazon.com as its best day ever in terms of sales. The company was able to sell more than 4 million different items, a good number of which had a lot to with video games. And who's the king of this particular videogame hill, you ask? Nintendo's handheld, of course.

The company didn't furnish exact figures for the DS Lite but mentioned that it was indeed the top seller on that day. They also highlighted the record-breaking 1,000 units sold in 29 seconds for Microsoft's Xbox 360 in their Amazon Customers Vote promotion. Mentioned too was the PlayStation 3's predecessor, the PS2, as a big seller.

In software sales, Amazon revealed that their top selling games for a single platform were New Super Mario Bros. and Brain Age, both for the DS. Sports title Madden Football ruled the multiplatform division. The MMO expansion title The Burning Crusade was the major top seller for all pre-orders. The Sims 2: Pets and art package Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 were both given recognition as well.

Amazon.com founder and CEO Jeff Bezoz couldn't help but show his appreciation to customers because of this success. "Video games were a customer favorite again this year. We are truly grateful to our customers. Happy holidays and happy new year to all from Amazon.com employees around the globe."

Get PlaydWhat is it with television shows and publications removing the E's from their words to make themselves hip? There's Punk'd, and... and... actually, that's pretty much it.

Playd Magazine is another piece of media out there with a missing vowel, but unlike Punk'd, it's got the power to make you think. It's a e-zine that covers the many different branches of gaming, with news, interviews and articles to get you in the mood to play. With their fourth issue, they want you to remember the now-defunct (but not necessarily dead) console: the Sega Dreamcast.

In addition to their Sega Dreamcast retrospective, they've also come up with previews for some upcoming multiplatform games such as Sonic the Hedgehog and Army of Two and the Wii Sports which is headed for Nintendo's next-gen console. There's even a special on Akihabara, which is Japan's well-known tech district and haven for all otaku refugees.

Their mag is in PDF format, so you can view it on any computer that reads Adobe's format. Of course, if you've got yourself a tweak of some sort for your PSP, then you could also try seeing it there. They come out with a new issue every two months, so you've got time before the next one comes out. Just head on over to their site and enjoy!
