As their formal press announcement says, "The Last Remnant is positioned to take on the world." Why does Square Enix have the guts to say that? For one thing, the game is scheduled for a simultaneous US and Japan Release (with a EU release already planned). Moreover, Square Enix's latest game is set to be released for both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

What's more interesting is that as far as gameplay goes, you get this: "In The Last Remnant, as many as seventy units will duke it out at once in fierce yet beautiful battles. Backed by the visual power of next-gen hardware, the unique play style and battle system will challenge and invigorate players like never before."

It can be recalled that Ninety Nine Nights, a straight out Dynasty Warriors-esque game featured hundreds of opponents. Perhaps the strategy involved in just facing a paltry 70 enemies will make up for the small number. After all N3 got criticized for repetitive, uninspired gameplay scenarios, so that sort of cancelled out their "hundreds of enemies" gambit. Square Enix will spice this up for sure.

As for the game's backstory, it was revealed in the press announcement that in the past, the in-game world was filled with Remnants - mystical artifacts of sorts. The Remnants seem integral to the game world's struggles, wars, and shifts in power.

The Last Remnant has yet to receive an official release window. Let's hope that the team behind the game does a splendid job.

We mentioned earlier that there were going to be two free maps that will be released today. Now, for the guys who want a sneak peek of these new multiplayer maps before the download, here they are.

The first map is titled "Raven Down," where players must find a downed Raven helicopter in the middle of a ruined city. The second map, titled "Old Bones," places you in an old museum to prevent the Locust from destroying any remaining human artifacts. Take a walk with Fenix on the tours, and enjoy the view.

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: LegendWant some bargains? Then you've come to the right place. If you've got 30 bucks to spend on a good game, then you might wanna think about getting Tomb Raider: Legend for the 360. Best Buy's selling 'em for $29.99.

In Legend, Lara embarks on another globetrotting adventure as she searches for an ancient and mysterious artifact. Hmm. All ancient artifacts in games and movies and stuff are mysterious, aren't they? And it also works the other way around: all mysterious artifacts are ancient.

Anyway, Legend has all the usual Tomb Raider goodies -- puzzles, acrobatics, and huge... things -- plus improved graphics and an enhanced interactive game environment. The game is from Eidos Interactive and has been stamped with a T rating by the ESRB.
