Let's start with the issue that most of you have probably been wondering about: why Too Human, the action-adventure game based on the future of technology, didn't show up at the recently held X06. According to Denis Dyack, a member of the Silicon Knight team, the reason why they didn't bring Too Human to the X06 was that they simply weren't ready to show the game. Denis also says that their main goal in showing the game was to give the people a real feel of what it will be like when it comes out, and that includes story, audio, gameplay, artwork, and technology. At the time of X06, they weren't ready to show the game in all its goodness so they decided to hold back. But Denis also assures us that everything's going well with the game's development and that there will be a preview of the game soon. Alright, now that we got that out of the way, let's move on to the gameplay. Control Scheme: the right analog stick is used to perform your basic melee combat attacks, allowing you to instantly attack in any direction and flow attacks effortlessly between targets. Different patterns and combinations of the conventional buttons and triggers will give you access to ranged gun combat, juggle attacks, air combat, finishing moves, and tons of advanced combos and moves. Other than the control scheme, Denis doesn't provide much other detailed info on the action elements of the game, which has only led to further speculation about the game's content and gameplay. But Silicon Knights says that the reason why they haven't revealed much info is because they believe that the game should be played and experienced for it to be fully understood. But rest assured that the game will live up to both the action AND adventure genre when this game comes out -- an intense action based combat game with deep RPG gameplay. Your character's play style will be defined by the choices you make and the skills and abilities you gain. As Baldur, the main hero, embarks on the task of saving humanity from a horde of robots gone haywire, these skills will definitely help out in slaying beasts with sword attacks, hammer smashes, shootouts, and tons more. Thus, the weapons you choose and how you combine them to issue kickass attacks will change the experience and combat possibilities. Add to that the co-op multiplayer mode that the game will feature, you can only imagine the endless combat possibilities you'll be getting yourself into. We mentioned in an earlier article that the game's release date has been pushed back, and according to IGN, the game is now scheduled for release April next year. We'll keep you posted for more info. |

Pardon us pussyfooting around the subject, but hosting alleged, supposed, inferential, hypothetical and presumptive images of Ubisoft's projects for next-gen consoles is like walking on thin North Pole ice. However, we're not going to deny that it's almost a guilty pleasure looking forward to further "updates" on these games. Rumormongers will have their fill of would they or wouldn't they with this list of release dates of the games included in the said Ubisoft leak, courtesy of Vooks.
Prince of Persia The rest of the images await after the jump! |

While surfing the web, we have come across these neat artwork posted by Nebur. The artworks are supposedly for a Star Wars game coming out on Xbox 360 and PS3. On a past article, there's a rumor that Star Wars Galaxies is coming to the PS3 as Amazon.com and Buy.com have already listed the product as available for pre-ordering. Or this may also be another peek at Star Wars: Force Unleashed. Since there are still no announcement for such games, we'd still have to keep our eyes peeled for any confirmation on this. Stay tuned!

The debate rages on regarding the question of whether or not video games can be considered art.
Following the bloom of the gaming industry, along with the new
technology that successfully delivers stunning visuals and graphics,
one would have to admit that it does blur the thin line between the
object itself becoming art, and the object just being the medium for
relaying the art.Sydney Morning Herald journalists Alexa Moses and Elicia Murray closely examined this issue recently. What they found was that those who weren't in favor of video games being tagged as art is basing their argument on the premise that the way video games are structured is essentially what hinders it from being able to jump aboard the "art ship", along with literature and film. Movie critic Roger Ebert is one such member of the negative side of this debate. According to him, "There is a structural reason for that: video games by their nature require player choices, which is the opposite of the strategy of serious film and literature, which requires authorial control." Therefore, by the mere fact that video games allow for interaction between the story and the player, authorship is practically abolished, hence removing that primordial element of art. Steve Stamatiadis, co-founder of Brisbane studio Krome, agrees with Ebert, believing that while games do have the potential to become recognized as an art form in the future, they're not there yet. While their argument may be deemed to be logically sound, it is not without loopholes. If one is to examine exactly how these story games go, it shows that an active interaction between game and player is necessary. However, the authorial control that Ebert claims to be lacking need not necessarily be missing in action. For while the players do get to choose their fate, it is not totally without the foresight of the developers. The debate goes on after the jump! |

Well, if you're a comic book fan, and love to draw, now seems to be the best chance for you to get in on the action. Activision and Raven Software's Marvel: Ultimate Alliance website recently opened up a fan art section for people to send in their artwork on their favorite characters. Since there are 140 characters in the Ultimate Alliance game, there's bound to be someone you like seeing more often, whether it be the voluptuous Rogue (PLEASE LET HER SHOW UP!) or your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Just grab a pencil and sketch something, or send your watercolor painting of the X-Men even... chances are, they'll want to show it to the world. In any case, the section's still pretty new, so there's only one picture there at the moment (see above pic), but if you're itching to have your 15 minutes of fame and maybe give a fanboy something to drool about, there doesn't seem to be a better place for it than on the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance website. Stay tuned, Marvel fans, as we get you the latest news for this multi-platform action RPG! Good luck, and get drawing! |

Team Fortress 2 is the sequel to the original Team Fortress mod for Quake under Valve Corporation. The opinions on this game is located entirely on the different end of the spectrum. Some say that the artwork is jaw-droppingly amazing while some say that it is too cartoonish and childish, even comparing it to the popular movie, The Incredibles by Pixar. But, its recent showing at the recently concluded GC at Leipzig will change your mind. The background music coupled with the camera angles are as 70s mod spy movie as you can get. Think 007. Just like in the movies, this second trailer for the game officially released by Valve is like a scene taken out from a movie, complete with a clapper that shows the details on each character. You can download the trailer through the download link just below the article. And with an entertainment software and technology company like Valve backing this game, flaunting an impressive portfolio that includes the Half-Life series, Counter-Strike series and Portal, this multiplayer team-based first-person shooter with strategy elements is in darn good hands. Team Fortress 2, along with the recently announced single player game, Portal, will be included with Half-Life 2: Episode Two and will be available Q1 2007. First the trailer. Now, a live gameplay footage. Yet again, this hell of a video came smoking and shooting from the Games Convention 2006. Played by one of the producers, Stranglehold (PS3, X360) demonstrated serious graphics and spotless third person perspective.
We noticed some pre-rendered animations mixed with actual gameplay but the difference was really hard to tell. Such is the level of artwork developer Midway Games offer for this title. Also, did you see the character went down the staircase's handrails? Then jumped off to a wall then to a cart? Awesome, we know. Welcome to the club. Fans who have seen Stranglehold at play are all praises and already dubbing it to be the best multi next-gen console shooter game yet. All these even before its release early next year. |

We hold the right hand of doom in this
interview with Paul Armatta, Producer at Konami Digital Entertainment
Inc. Won't you come on in and read the entire interview after the jump? QJ: How are Mike Mignola and Guillermo Del Toro involved with production? Armatta: Before we even started working on the game, we had a chance to speak with Mike and Guillermo on the phone. We discussed the developer we were thinking about using for the game and our general ideas for the type of game we wanted to make. We all agreed that we wanted to create game that would appeal to Hellboy fans and give them a unique experience that was based in the Hellboy universe, but was not just like the comics or the film or the animated movies. They also suggested that we look at the Conqueror Worm book for settings, storylines, and characters. Without telling us much about the Hellboy II movie script, they indicated that the Conqueror Worm would give us a place to start, and we wouldn't have to worry about duplicating anything they were thinking about for the next movie. Since then, they've given us direction and feedback on the story, settings and artwork on a regular basis. |

We have more screenshots as well as some new artwork from the FPS known as Parabellum. Developed by ACONY, this title will utilize the Unreal Engine 3 to create high-end graphics for a multiplayer FPS on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The plot of this game revolves around some sort of terrorist threat located within New York; we know it sucks, but that's all the info we have at this time. As you can see from these screens, Parabellum is definitely delivering impressive visuals, but we'll have to wait until the second half of 2007 to see what this title has to offer.
