NBA Street Homecourt by EA Sports is not just about the game, it's about roots and looking back at your hometown homecourt.

Well - mush aside - these two videos lined up are both for Carmelo Anthony and both sporting the rustic old look of NBA Street Homecourt videos. One featuring Cloverdale, with the four-leaf clover. The other one is Carmelo Anthony's Street Ball Moment, a montage of pics.

(*sigh*) We'll have to wait a couple more weeks for this title to hit the shelves. In the meantime, enjoy!

The other video comes after the jump!

the shoes... - Image 1In-game advertising goes all-out in NBA Street: Homecourt (PS3, Xbox 360) as EA and Nike have teamed up to bring you ads which do more than just annoy the casual gamer.

In Homecourt, created players can now be draped in authentic Nike gear to provide more than just aesthetics. The shoes actually boost up the experience gained by your created baller so you can raise your stats faster and own the playgrounds faster than you can say "Air Jordan."

Included in the extensive list of footwear is the entire Jordan series, from the brightly colored Air Jordan I's, the VII's that His Airness wore in the Barcelona Olympics to the freshly-released Air Jordan XXII's.

Aside from the shoes, real-life courts which saw the likes of Rip Hamilton and Carmelo Anthony grow to stardom are unlockable, but the legendary Rucker Park in Harlem has got to be the crown jewel of the bunch, and you can download it for free. Here are some of the game's goodies:
  • The GOAT - UNLOCKED
  • Dirt Bowl - UNLOCKED
  • Hometown Park - UNLOCKED
  • Venice Beach - UNLOCKED
  • Franklin Park - UNLOCKED
  • Cloverdale - LOCKED (Unlocked in Homecourt Challenge)
  • Rupert Bell Rec Center - LOCKED (Unlocked in Homecourt Challenge)
  • Ash Park - LOCKED (Unlocked in Homecourt Challenge)
  • Brand Jordan Gym - LOCKED (Unlocked in Homecourt Challenge)
  • Hometown Gym - LOCKED (Unlocked in Homecourt Challenge)
All in all, the addition of the Nike gear, the deep customization options and the fast, arcade-style play should give Xbox 360 hoop fans a good fix of hardcourt action.

Cloverdale - Image 1

Everybody has hometown memories. Where they grew up, went to school, and played their very first basketball game. The pros are no different and NBA Street Homecourt will showcase where the ballers came from. Here's an inside look the the courts.

Venice Beach - It's the basketball court to the stars in Los Angeles, CA. Magic Johnson and Kobe Bryant frequent this court for pickup games. In game, here is where you'll meet Baron Davis and Jason Kidd.

Cloverdale - It's the pride of Baltimore, MD and homecourt of Carmelo Anthony. It spawned another great - Sam Cassel, along with many of the disbanded Baltimore Bullets. In game, this is where you play your first NBA game against Anthony, Cassel and Jaun Dixon.

Ash Park - Coatesville, PA has Ash Park, which served as the training field for no less than Rip Hamilton. He trained there with his mentor, Ricky Hicks and renovated the park and the court itself. In game, this is where the first Homecourt Tourney happens. Defending this court would be imports from Philly Kobe Bryant and Rasheed Wallace.

Rupert Bell Rec - Located in Winston-Salem, NC, Rupert Bell Rec is home to Chris Paul. This is also where the second Homecourt Tournament takes place.

The GOAT - At the heart of Manhattan lies the GOAT (New York, NY) slathered in funky blue and green paint. Rafer Alston regularly plays there. In game, the best the East Coast can offer converge there. Ron Artest, Allen Iverson, and Stephon Marbury. 'Nuff said.

Franklin Park - West side Chicago, IL has Franklin Park with signs of the Chicago Bulls plastered on the walls. Kevin Garnett can give you a tour. In game, Kevin Garnett and Lebron James defend their homecourt.

See the other courts and some screens after the jump!

Here are the game features you can look forward to in NBA Street :
  • Trick Remixer: This all-new trick system gives you the ball and puts it in your hand. Take control of your player's rhythm mixing quick tricks with elaborate moves using two trick buttons. How long do we have to wait for a new piece of hot basketball action to come our way? Game Trailers has a new video up for EA Sports' NBA Street Homecourt, and it makes us wish the release date was at the end of January rather than the beginning of March.

What do you get with this one? Carmelo Anthony is here, for starters. You also get to see him and a host of other b-ball notables doing some tricks and performing crossovers. They'll not only be grabbing air for the ultimate dunk, they'll also be kicking the ball back towards the camera.

In any case, expect NBA Street Homecourt to make its way onto the PS3 and Xbox 360 on March 7. Till then, let's make do with the video, alright?

The trailer takes you to Melo's homecourt and we ain't talking about the Pepsi Center here. The homecourt we're talking about is at Cloverdale, Maryland. As you can see from the vid, Melo knows his homecourt pretty well, and he uses that knowledge to his advantage. Indeed, the Cloverdale court is the perfect sixth man for Melo.

This is a usual scene. A couple of guys hanging out, just chilling in the couch, armed with Xbox 360 controllers. Typical guy fun.

What makes this scene not-so typical is that one of the guys is an interviewer, EGM's Bryan Intihar, and the other guy is NBA Street Homecourt's cover star Carmelo Anthony. Cool, eh? Anyway, it was a very casual round of Q&A, with the cover boy seemingly enjoying whatever game he was playing.

Asked if he were to pick two guys to play street with him right then and there, he pauses for a while and answers Shaq and Ron Artest. "For one, you ain't gonna make no basket. For two, Ron Artest's gonna foul you everytime." Well it's pretty obvious this guy's always up for that extra challenge.

Anyways, talking about the game, he says, "When you play NBA Street, you gotta know how to play street." Oh no, please let that not be necessary! He then cites mental toughness and competitive spirit as the must-haves when playing street ball. Take it from this Denver Nugget star. He's a pro.

SilhoutteBack in 1992, there was boy from Baltimore who dreamed of becoming a star. Cancer took his father away when he was just a baby. Without a father figure to look up to, he turned to his brothers and sisters for support and love. As he grew up, he became fond of basketball. He would play day and night in one of those courts found in the streets, with rusty rings and torn nets.

While in high school, the boy slowly made a name for himself. 'Twas the summer of 2001 when he became Baltimore Sun's metro player of the year, as well as Baltimore catholic league player of the year. He then made it to the high school All American team. The boy's college basketball career was rather short as he just appeared for one season in Syracuse University. Finally in 2003, his dreams became realized. He joined the NBA draft and was selected 3rd overall.

Currently, the boy plays forward for the Denver Nuggets and is the cover of Electronic Arts NBA Street Homecourt. The game will appear both on Xbox 360 and the PS3. The boy is Carmelo Anthony.

NBA Street

EA recently announced the newest addition to one of its games, NBA Street, which was first unveiled in 2001. The streetball videogame is currently in development in Vancouver, British Columbia by EA Canada and is slated for a Spring 2007 release. EA hopes that casual games and sports fans can still be thrilled by the games easy pick-up and difficult to master gameplay, with progressive visuals and some of the biggest gameplay moments in action sports.

The fourth chapter of NBA Street series expands on the fast-paced 3-on-3 basketball gameplay that has made the franchise a hit. The game, according to EA, creates a hyper-real world that merges legendary courts with the hometown courts of your favorite NBA stars into one seamless city of streetball moments. Earn a name for yourself and garner respect as you progress along your hometown journey and become a legend.

The new version of NBA Street will be available for both the PS3 and Xbox 360. For now, all we can offer is a teaser which features one of my personal favorites, the multi-talented star player of the Denver Nuggets, Carmelo Anthony.
