Cryptic Studios, independent developer for games like Star Trek Online and Champions Online, will soon be officially acquired by Atari's parent company, Infogrames Entertainment, this according to a press release sent out today.

As many of you already know, Cryptic Studios is the developer working on Champions Online and Star Trek Online. Some of you probably already know that these games are being designed to appear both on the PC and the Xbox 360.

Now here's something you probably don't know about yet: Star Trek Online and/or Champions Online might be getting a PS3 port.

After Perpetual Entertainment halted development early this year, Cryptic Studios is now taking up the mantle and has announced that it's working on a Star Trek MMO, called Star Trek Online, which is supposed to head to the PC and consoles. This teaser trailer shows several Marvel heroes and villains in statuesque poses including Wolverine, Ant-man, Cable, Captain America, Cyclops, Daredevil, Nick Fury, the Hulk, Nightcrawler, the Punisher, Quicksilver, Spider-Man, the Thing, plus Apocalypse, Uatu, Doctor Doom, Doctor Octopus, Magneto, Galactus, and a Sentinel. This makes us even more curious as to how gameplay (too bad there weren't any shown) will work in Marvel Universe Online.
