The midnight launch for Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360, PS3, and PC) has been confirmed by two retail stores, GameStop and EB Games. If you want to catch it, get yourselves ready for the long lines ahead in just a little over a month.

Whether or not you agree with Microsoft and Bungie's decision to turn Halo 3: ODST into a full-priced release, it's definitely resonating with a lot of Halo fans, as indicated by this earlier report. For those who want to make sure that they get a copy on day one, Microsoft has put together a promo that lets those who pre-order at participating retailers play as the tough-as-nails series stalwart Sgt. Avery Junior Johnson in the game's multiplayer Firefight mode.

Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed 2 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC) is going black. EB Games Australia is reportedly offering at their online store the Assassin'sc Creed 2 Exclusive Black Collector's Edition, and is pegging it for a November 2009 ship-out.

Microsoft's gotten itself into another noisy controversy the past week. They've taken quite a beating, with devs calling them a "dumb PC", and activists hounding them for once again banning an XBL user for identifying in her profile information that she's a lesbian. Our source from EBGames/GameStop, Kaizer_911 is back to inform everyone that the Nintendo DSi is now pre-order at all GameStop stores across the US, and only a limited number will be available per store. He also confirmed the Red Xbox 360 console, but only for New Zealand. More details after the link.

A Halo Wars press release from Microsoft officially/accidentally mentioned the Red Xbox 360 Elite that's rumored to come with Resident Evil 5. A brilliant marketing ploy, or your average stupid mistake? Either way, looks like the Red Xbox 360 Elite is as good as confirmed.
