On Shelves This Week - Image 1Last week's batch may be a tough act to follow, but this week holds its own, bidding for your buck. The Call of Juarez prequel Bound in Blood (PS3, Xbox 360 and PC) is out now if you want a mean FPS. You can also give Infernal: Hell's Vengeance a look if the McCall brothers aren't mean enough for you. Be sure to check out the week's releases on this edition of On Shelves This Week.

On Shelves This Week - Image 1This is a much, much better line-up for our On Shelves section this week. As in MUCH. One, the Transformers are finally rolling out (unfortch, Megan Fox won't be included in your game purchase). Two, Fight Night Round 4 is also stepping into the ring to knock you out with. Three, The Conduit is also set to make waves on your Wii, and so is the Resident Evil Archives. And of course, the ever-present DS games for the kids. Yes, it doesn't just stop at three. Go ahead, check out what else is there this week.

Xbox 360 Weekend Warrior - Image 1Hands down, the biggest news for this week coming from Microsoft would be the flub by their CEO, Steve Ballmer, at a conference, saying that a "new Xbox 360" will be released in 2010. Only to have his VPs and Directors come rushing forth to do some damage control before all hell breaks loose from disappointed fans who have been waiting and wishing and praying for a new console. It was a dark cloud that hung above the Xbox 360 state of affairs, casting heavy shadows on other news that came out, though not necessarily miniscule by themselves. See what  I mean after the jump in this week's Warrior recap.

Bayonetta - Image 1Did you guys see that Bayonetta model at E3? Man, I can only applaud such dedication. She didn't look half-bad either. The game's been looking damn good too, and it's been steadily building up hype for its impending yet still unannounced release. Japanese gaming mag Famitsu is also getting in on the Bayonetta action with a full six-page feature complete with an interview with game director Hideki Kamiya and producer Yusuke Hoshimoto. More after the jump.

Overlord II - Image 1Goodbye, Spunk. Apparently, the ESRB is very picky not only with how many fingers have been chewed off by zombies, but also by the name given the video game characters. "Spunk" would have been a nice addition to the character's list in Overlord II had the ratings board not  deemed it inappropriate.

Left 4 Dead 2 - Image 1If you would backtrack to E3 for a little bit, you may remember seeing the Left 4 Dead 2 (Xbox 360, PC) poster from the Valve booth. Y'know, the one with the hand that looks like three of five fingers got chewed off, with the remaining fingers holding up a "two" sign? Apparently the ESRB does not take too kindly to such marketing material, so Valve had to change it to something slightly less offensive to those who'd rather not see it. More after the jump.

On Shelves This Week - Image 1When I say there are slim pickings this week, I mean it. The home consoles only get two releases, and there are no new games at all for the Wii and PSP. There's also only one release on PC, but since it's The Sims 3, it's sure to sell a bucketload by its lonesome. The only console not experiencing a game drought this week in the Nintendo DS. There really are no slow release weeks for the DS in terms of quantity, really. Read on for a list of this week's game releases.
