Around a month ago, the ESRB broke word of Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Commander's Challenge for PS3 and Xbox 360. While it did raise some hopes that the Uprising expansion would be made available to console gamers, an official announcement from Electronic Arts has confirmed that only the Commander's Challenge mode will be making the jump.

Finally, a game that everyone is definitely waiting for: Madden NFL 10. We' have some lackluster stand alone games the few weeks past, but not anymore. Starting this week, you're finally gonna get all the field action you've been longing for. Not only that, this whole week of August 9th to 15th seems to well-represented, with various games sprinkled all throughout the different days. Check out the list after the jump.

The games sure are kicking up. This week, we've got another video game adaptation of a popular action hero franchise that's launching along the movie. Can  you guess which one it is?  We've also got several more big titles coming our way this week, from aliens to athletes, heroes and warriors, rockstars and (Karl's favorite) popstar. Tired of the flimsy four-game batches we've been having lately? We've got double the number this week, with big titles you definitely don't want to miss out on, even if you're not much of a day one buyer. For starters, there the PC version for Bionic Commando (PC, Xbox 360, PS3) and the naval strategy game, East India Company. Cherry on the icing goes to King of Fighters XII (PS3, Xbox 360),and the much-anticipated Wii Sports Resort, hand-in-hand with the Wii MotionPlus.

There has been a lot of talk about sexual content in video video games lately. There's the nudity in The Witcher, BioWare's take on sex scenes, and Obsidian's defense of the Alpha Protocol sex scenes. The latest sexytime news comes out of a synopsis posted by the ESRB as they reviewed the sexual content found in yet another BioWare title, Dragon Age: Origins (PS3, PC, Xbox 360). Article may not be suited for minors.

Here's another lawsuit to help fill your weekly quota of legal drama. This one was filed by the Entertainment Software Association against the Chicago Transit Authority for its 2009 ordinance that prohibits M and AO-rated video game ads from all its vehicles and facilities, citing that the ordinance is a clear violation of the entertainment software community's constitutional rights.

Don't look now, but it's another four-game batch for this week, with the exclusion of the digital-only releases. This week's biggest titles come from the Watchmen, as they get released into different titles for the PS3 and Xbox 360 respectively. But hey, if you're into guinea pigs and cartoony RTS, you'd probably like the other two in the bunch. Read up on this edition of On Shelves This Week for more info.

Command & Conquer 4 may be PC-only, but it looks like Electronic Arts may have some C&C goodness in store for console gamers as well. A listing for a PS3 and Xbox 360 title called Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Commander's Challenge has recently popped up on the ESRB website.

With this week's big guns coming as digital downloads, the games that will actually be on shelves this week won't be beckoning for your cash too hard. This week's MVP goes to NCAA Football 10, which has received some good reviews despite EA's lackluster performance in the last few years. You may not be personally interested in the rest of the list, but someone you know might love to get one as a gift. Who knows?

Minus the digital downloads, this has to be one of the smallest batches we've seen on On Shelves. Talk about a dry batch - no AAA titles in this lineup. Anyway, there's still ArmA II for the PC if you're a die-hard FPS fan, or if you're a baseball fan, 2K Sports' The Bigs is also coming out this week.
