MMOs are steadily breaking out of their PC confines and into this console generation thanks to the massive support for online play. Speaking at the "MMOs to consoles" panel at the GDC in Austin, Turbine VP of product development Craig Alexander makes a comparison between the two powerhouses of the seventh generation. His thoughts - it's easier to develop MMOs for the Xbox 360 than the PS3.

They're being sued right now, but at least Turbine is still focusing on what they're supposed to do: make games. Over at the Austin GDC, Craig Alexander, the company's VP of project development, confirmed that they currently have a console MMO in the works.

A lot of people think that the year 2012 is significant. Some think the world's going to end by then. People in the games industry, on the other hand, think that it will be a beginning instead of an end: the beginning of the next console cycle. Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli is one of those who believe that 2012 is when the next generation of game consoles will start showing up. *UPDATE* Two demo videos have surfaced from GamesCom 2009.

Sweet! 6,000 zombies on screen and now multiplayer too? Yummy. Yes, after some confusion at GDC, turns out Dead Rising 2 will be getting multiplayer after all. This was confirmed by series creator Keiji Inafune last week at Captivate '09, but the now question is: what type of multiplayer will it be? Left 4 Dead Rising 2, ey?

Finally, your own IMAX at home! Stereoscopic 3D tech is now confirmed to head for the PS3 and Mac platforms, care of Next3D. They're going to release their 3D movie player software for free, right about the same time they launch their 3D movie service. Some of you have seen it in action as a preview back in CES and GDC, but now it's set in stone. Just as long as your TV is 3D-ready and you got those Shutter glasses, you guys will be able to watch 1080p HD 3D movies on your PS3s and Macs, and eventually, the Xbox 360 too.

Is there a LEGO Rock Band in the works? If we're going to base our answer on the recently-concluded GDC presentation of Harmonix senior designer Dan Teasdale, the answer would be no. However, if we are going to base it on his should-have-been presentation, that's quite a different matter altogether.

 "Don't think about Fable 2 as an RPG franchise -- think about it as the world of Albion," so said Peter Molyneux at the recent GDC. So does this mean that we might as well not expect it to be an RPG? He did not give a specific picture for that, but it would be safe to surmise that that would be the case. The press release came with the heading, "2009 Game Developers Conference Once Again Serves As Focal Point For Worldwide Videogame Industry," plus a few stats on this year's events that made the whole thing, in their words, a "week of learning, networking, and inspiration."
