Now that id Software has been acquired by ZeniMax, the veteran game studio is using some of the extra cash by putting together a new development team. More after the jump.

Doom and Rage (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) developer id Software has joined Bethesda Softworks under the wings of new parent company ZeniMax. A press release announcing the acquisition of the former by the latter has just been released.

Some Nazi hunting will be in order this August, as Activision has finally announced a release date for Raven Software's Wolfenstein revamp. The game is now set for release on August 4 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Gamers in Europe will get it on August 7.

The name id Software is a legendary one among long-time PC gamers, and they've now started to branch out into the console market with the upcoming action-RPG/racer Rage (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) and the new Wolfenstein game (PC, PS3, Xbox 360). The latter title, as revealed by id Software's Todd Hollenshead to GameSpot, will be one of the games present at E3, along with some "new stuff".

Indeed, BJ Blazkowicz is back for another Wolfenstein run. Unfortunately, those eagerly awaiting the release of Rage (PS3 and Xbox 360, PC) from id Software will be disappointed, and will have to wait a tad longer. That's because id CEO Todd Hollenshead himself has confirmed that the game won't be coming out this year.
