Fallout 3 Xbox 360 (also on PlayStation 3, PC)wont' be coming to India, guys. Sorry. Microsoft decided to cancel its release just mere days away from its scheduled launch due to "cultural insensitivities". Gasp! Did they just pull a Sony on us?!? Oh no, they didn't! ... While not common knowledge, it is a fact that the gaming industry in India is blooming and Microsoft is trying to cover a lot of ground in this market. However, Microsoft Entertainment & Devices country manager Mohit Anand who had a hand in the industry's growth, has decided to leave his post. Speculations point at Nintendo as the cause since it may try to bring the Wii to India, but Anand denied such rumors. Learn more at the full article.

Xbox Live is coming to India. Microsoft's online service for its Xbox 360 home video game console will launch in the territory on November 5. Previous reports had the service's launch pegged for September.

PC gamers will also be welcomed into the online fold with Games for Windows Live. This was revealed during a Microsoft press event in New Delhi today. Microsoft India also announced that the Video Marketplace will be made available to Xbox 360 gamers in India soon, although a specific date has yet to be revealed.

Microsoft India has also joined with Indian company Seventymm to let gamers rent Xbox 360 games. Educational content will also be made available on Xbox Live. According to Angry Pixel, India will be the first country to see the release of what seem to be downloadable learning aids for children grades 1 to 12.

Now that Peter Moore has taken the helm of EA Sports as president, big plans are about to be carried out for the company. Not only does he want games of the brand to be successful in multiple platforms, but also wants EA Sports to go global.

In an interview, Moore discussed about how he looks at other countries where the gaming industry could be in three years time. India, Russia, and mainland China are the biggest bets as future major players within the interactive entertainment world. For instance, EA Sports is looking at cricket as a sport that can become more than just India's favorite.

Other goals in Moore's checklist include capitalizing on various platforms and making sure his company can make games that sell to a wider audience. He also expressed interest in getting another tattoo, one of John Madden, if his back is wide enough.

When asked why Moore left his position in Microsoft as corporate vice president, he replied:

[EA] is a company I have enjoyed competing with over the years and more recently collaborating with. I have strong Bay Area roots with my kids being born here, being Cal Berkeley kids, and the timing was right for me both personally and professionally to come here.

He also mentioned how he knew Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitello for a long time and figured out that being where he is now is the suitable place for someone with his background. Some may remember EA also offered him good salary and compensation for leaving his previous job.

After waiting for what seemed like an eternity, our friends in India will finally be getting some Xbox Live goodness as the online service has been announced to push through this coming September. The news was confirmed by a certain Sanjoy who is a senior member of community 360Indians.

According to Sanjoy, he went to Microsoft's headquarter in Gurgaon and met with executives Microsoft Entertainment and Devices Division Country Manager Mohit Anand as well as with Microsoft Xbox 360 Product Manager Vivek Kulkarni.

The more interesting part here is that the launch will coincide with the release of highly-anticipated video game Halo 3. Accordingly, Halo 3 will be released in India on September 24 and 25 while the Xbox Live launch will take place between September 23 and 30.

The event will be attended by top honchos but Sanjoy didn't mention who. Regarding the title, India will be getting both the Standard Edition and Special Edition but not the Legendary Edition. A copy will cost Rs 1,895 (US$ 46.89).

Xbox Live service, furthermore, will be available in one-month, three-month, and 12-month denominations. Sanjoy also heard that Microsoft is planning a bundle for India that will include a Live subscription, a broadband Internet connection, and a video game.

It was also revealed that Stranglehold, as well as copies of Gears of War and Forza 2 will also be available during the above mentioned dates. Hey guys, you know what, we heard Indian gamers are quite good in FPS. So you better prepare for them.

While gamers all over the world are crying for a price drop, our friends over at India buy their PS3 and Xbox 360 at US$ 980 and US$ 600 respectively. Even with such expensive consoles, analyst group iSuppli believes that the industry will reach US$ 125 million on 2010, from last year's US$ 13 million.

Milestone Interactive Software distributed the PS3 at almost a thousand bucks, but 1,200 units have been sold so far. Year end goal of 10,000 units sold will be hard according to the group, because of Xbox 360 and its "major price differential compared to its competitor."

Having to pay for duties doesn't help, which is almost 35% the product price in India. Microsoft's box also have the earlier release advantage, and localizing support that iSuppli calls "its commitment to customizing its titles for Indian tastes."

“The console gaming segment is not very sizeable in India. However, future growth expectations and consumerism are prompting companies to establish themselves in India," said analyst Ashish Thakre from the group. That means there shouldn't be any wars - we should be happy that the industry is booming in more countries.

In and effort to further widen its Xbox 360 user base, Microsoft just announced that it will be finally launching the console in the Middle East. The first country in that area to get it will be the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and this will be on April 26. Next will be Saudi Arabia, to be followed by other countries in the region.

Furthermore, Microsoft has authorized Dubai-based Pluto Derinton Games to officially distribute the console and related products, including video game titles, in the UAE. The estimated retail price of the console is 1,799 UAE Dirhams, which is roughly about US$ 490. Microsoft Middle East Head of Entertainment and Devices Division Armagan Demir commented,

The official launch in the UAE will signify that gamers in the Middle East will not only have easy access to high-definition graphics, unparalleled online play and gripping digital entertainment features of the Xbox 360 but also the technical support, events, community and access to over 160 games that are available to gamers abroad.

Demir also added that the whole of Middle East will have access to the console within seven months. Despite these great developments, Xbox Live will not be available for them at the moment. Also, those who want to have WiFi access can just buy external accessory.

Late last year, Microsoft also launched the console in Brazil and India, and promised to consider the rest of the developing countries next.

Rejoice, cricket fans, and we know there's a lot of you out there! The other day, Codemasters just released Brian Lara International Cricket 2007 for the Xbox 360, the PC, and even for PlayStation 2 (PS2). For those who dig the sport and the video game version, this really is a reason to celebrate.
