We posted an article one month ago that invited readers to do a little thought exercise. Here's what we said: "On
the 5th of November we're going to post an article or two about video
games, gadgets, technology, and general geekness ... the things about
video gaming and technology that ought not be forgotten."So here's our list of some video gaming and technology moments worth remembering. Hope this gets you thinking (and feeling nostalgic too!). And we look forward to your comments (and arguments). What do you remember and wish that the world will never forget? |

Continuing a lineage of musical showcasing for artists such as Chamillionaire, Good Charlotte, and OK GO, EA Sports' Madden NFL 08 (PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PSP, DS) musical tracks will sport a collection of debuting musical talent which includes Airbourne, The Bravery, Sum 41, The Hives, in addition to Ozzy Osbourne as previously announced. "Radio is adding songs based on a bands inclusion in the game. Video channels are creating their playlists based on the soundtrack. Simply put, Madden moves music forward," said Electronic Arts' music and marketing exec, Steve Schnur. He claims that the new soundtrack is the series' "most daring and effective mix of artists ever." It is the objective of the Madden NFL soundtrack to serve as a medium of providing exposure to new artists, while offering established artists to achieve a whole new level of exposure and experience in the industry. Electronic Arts' also plans live performances and events featuring the artists of the soundtracks, soon to be announced within the summer. Terra: Formationsis obviously out to conquer the universe, and this futuristic FPS/RTS/RPG title will most definitely give you some tough challenge to crack. Set in the year 2157, man has abandoned dried up, good ol' planet Earth and has jumped ship to one of Jupiter's moon called "Europa". But of course, they are not alone. Basically, the thrust of the game is for you to join the elite army force tasked with the reshaping of the environments of those worlds deemed not yet ready for habitation. Of course, as man is new in the neighborhood, they must be able to develop their new planet in order to make it more suited for their needs. But bugs are there, and, well, they don't really like the company. Nobody really likes intrusion in their own space, right? So what you can expect from that is a fight for domination and, ultimately, survival. There are four classes of characters for you to interact with and learn from: the Soldier faction, the Engineer class, the Researcher class, and the Commander class. The Soldier faction is tasked to provide you with the experience of the kind of action you'd typically find in a traditional FPS game. If you don the Engineer suit, meanwhile, you'll be entrusted with the development and construction of the facilities. Of course, as you are new in the area, some good researcher will most certainly take you a long way. So, the Researcher class is there to help you explore the new world, as well as gain knowledge on the tools and development of technology. And as leadership is primordial in running a new world, the Commander class is there to ensure that things are in order, paving the way for a more stable future. Terra: Formations is said to be ported to the Xbox 360 and the PC, with a yet unannounced 2007 release date. Just keep it posted here for more updates. In the meantime, a world-full of screenshots await you over at the Full Article, so check them out. |

We have reported to you numerous 2007 predictions about gaming, specifically about the next-gen wars. We've heard about what analyst Michael Pachter had to say and even ordinary people like Benjamin Willcock said his piece about the matter.Count this bit as something off-topic. European website, Games.Blogo featured a different take on the Wii vs. PS3 vs. Xbox 360 scenario. How different? Well, they consulted the expertise of Astrologer, Elizabeth Hathaway, and she came up with an astrological analysis based on the horoscopes of Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony. Well, we told you that it's a different take. Here's what Ms. Hathaway had to say (cue weird, gypsy music): On Sony and the PS3: Sony's sun in Taurus in sextile with Saturn reflects a culture where hard work is inherent to its success: strong work ethic. Sony makes durable products. The PlayStation is in fact a little black box and this is a very Saturnal earthy image. The product is sturdy designed to last...Sony's weakness is probably that it is not inclined to "change a winning team". This is it's Achilles' heel. At the top - there will be a conservative culture. Nintendo is intelligent, good in positioning itself on the market, and it makes attractive products. There is a lot of attention given to the form (Venus in Libra)...Then the Wii, this launch horoscope once again shows- in this case a particularly strong Scorpio theme. This is interesting, because Scorpio is a fixed sign and the Nintendo Wii is an active product. Gamers are used to sitting down to play, with the Wii, you have to get out of your chair...Also Nintendo's birth chart shows that the company has its progressed Sun in square with its radix Saturn. This suggests that in general, the company will have to work hard very hard to book results. This could be a good year for Microsoft. Jupiter's entry into Sagittarius heralds a year in which Jupiter will transit Microsoft's radix Sun and Mars. This shows expansion, activity, and optimism. Sagittarius is good at adjusting to new circumstances and will aim for big, bigger, biggest...Success will come slowly Microsoft needs to take a long breath. It will take them some time to establish the Xbox 360. People need to connect with the product first. But it will come for sure. |
