MatisyahuMatisyahu, the first Hasidic Jewish reggae singer, is Xbox Live's Artist Of The Month for June. For the gamers and fans, this means they can get Matisyahu's video "Youth" in a high-definition version from the Xbox Live Marketplace.

The singer will also be participating in an exclusive Xbox Live “Game with Fame” session, playing NHL 2K6. Players can win a chance to play together with him on that occasion, and they'll also be able to win an Xbox 360 and a signed copy of Matisyahu's newest CD, "Youth", which debuted in March at the number one spot in Billboard's Top Internet Albums Chart, Digital Albums Chart and Reggae Chart.

Having been chosen as the Artist Of The Month, Matisyahu himself commented: Gaming is a great way to connect with people and Xbox Live gives me the ability to reach out and connect with fans from all over the world. Being the Xbox Live Artist of the Month is a huge accomplishment and I’m looking forward to getting online and playing some NHL 2K6 during the Game with Fame.

Previous Xbox Live Artists Of The Month were Natasha Bedingfield and The Fray. The program tries to bring gamers closer to their stars, as music videos get available on the Marketplace and musicians compete against regular players on Xbox Live. Of course, the cynics among us might argue that this feature is nothing more than a promotion program for Epic Records, where all of the present and past artists of the month are signed. But yeah, the interpretation is entirely up to you...

Well it looks like the Artist of the Month for June is Matisyahu as his newest music video "Youth" is available to download on the Marketplace thanks to the promotion. The music video is on both 480p and 720p formats. The download for the 480p is only 43.58 MB while the 720p video weights in at 237.42 MB.

Youth is the title of one of the songs on Matisyahu's new album as well as being the name of the album itself. So go ahead and check out the music video if you want to view Matisyahu's take on reggae music as it won't cost you any Microsoft points to download.
