After the phenomenal sales earned from the release of Konami's Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, it seems like Sony has finally overtaken everyone else and is currently enjoying a huge hardware sales lead against its other rivals. Before solid snakes... Super Saiyans! Though MGS4 still isn't accounted for in these charts, it's still quite a view to behold. For the week June 2 to June 8, 2008, the PS3 version of Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit took the top spot, while the Xbox 360 is making its presence felt in the frequently Nintendo-dominated charts. After eight weeks on top, Nintendo's Mario Kart Wii was ousted from the top spot in Media Create's software chart list by Sega's Pro Yakyuu Team o Tsukurou! On the flip side, the PlayStation Portable is still enjoying a comfortable lead against its other hardware rivals. We've got the latest information that was recently released by Media Create regarding the hardware and software sales in Japan. Capcom's Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G is heading the rest of the pack in terms of software sales, while Sony's PSP is still dominating the hardware charts. Catch the details after the jump!

According to the latest numbers from the Media Create marketing group in Japan, it seems like the same old tune was being played about the top contender in both the software and hardware sales charts. The numbers for the week of May 5 to May 11 revealed that both Nintendo's Mario Kart Wii and Capcom's Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G are once again the top charting titles in the country. The PSP's on a pretty solid sales streak in Japan. It's been selling more than any other platform in the region since it landed on top last March 16. Sales seem to have plateaued a bit, but it's still leading strong. Another thing of note: ever since January, the PSP has already sold more then the Wii. More in the full article.

This week tells a very similar story as the wacky go kart racing title racked in an additional 152,000 copies and took the top spot in the Media Create software chart list once again.
