Resident Evil 5 - Image 1Ever wondered why they called it Biohazard in Japan and Resident Evil in the US? Games Radar asked that very question that I'm sure a lot of you guys out there want to know as well. The answer comes from Chris Kramer, senior director of communications and community at Capcom US, who even reveals that he found Resident Evil super-cheesy.

Rockstar Games Announces Max Payne 3 for Winter 2009 - Image 1Despite the critical calamity that is the Max Payne movie, the video game arm of the franchise is still going strong. Rockstar Games has sent out a press release announcing that they're planning to release Max Payne 3 by Winter of this year.

Midway Delisted from NYSE, Leaves ESA - Image 1 It's not looking good for Mortal Kombat studio, Midway Games. The company, which recently filed for a Chapter 11 bankruptcy, was officially delisted from the New York Stock Exchange. Further adding to its growing list of pains is its departure from E3 group, the Entertainment Software Association.

warning labelAt this rate, if all these bills being proposed get written into actual law, video game box art would be obsolete. In their place, it's just one big white label on the cover: warning warning danger warning! Following last week's proposal of having a huge list of warnings on game boxes (sodomy, rape, bestiality, incest, murder, etc.), a new bill now wants a warning label linking photosensitivity epilepsy and video games.

WARNINGRemember when assemblyman Keith L.T. Wright proposed to have kids protected from racist games and its ilk? And before that, representative Joe Baca introduced another bill which wanted those obtrusive warning labels on video game boxes. Take those two bills and up the ante with a whole list of mature content warnings, plus a US$ 1000 fine for violators. Thus, you get this new one. Execute order 66 A2837!

Street Fighter IV San Francisco Fan Club - Image 1Capcom really went all out on the promotions for Street Fighter IV (PS3, 360) with their series of Fight Club events. In the full article is a video of their San Francisco Fight Club where fans and rookies of the game got together and fought it out. Jeff Rubenstein also got a few words from Mr. Street Fighter IV, Seth Killian, as well as John Diamonon and talked about the game and the event.

ManhuntOh please. Not another one. This following yesterday's news of having warning labels on game boxes? Oy vey... Apparently, a new bill is going around the New York Assembly. This one was introduced by one Kieth L.T. Wright, and he aims to have even more restrictions in the selling of video games. On top of the already existing ESRB ratings, the new bill would have minors shielded from racism, cursing, and other forms of insult in video games.

No to DLC taxes - Image 1What's this? More taxes?!? More importantly, in downloadable content?!? Come. On. Apparently, it's gonna suck to be a New Yorker because of this. Included in the state's proposed budget is the suggestion that DLC, in both the iPod and video games, be taxed.

Midway - Image 1It looks like nothing is going right for Midway these days. The company has just revealed that its stocks are facing delisting from the New York Stock Exchange. This is just the latest in Midway's ongoing financial soap opera. Layoffs, huge losses, and the resignations of some of its top execs were only a few of the bad news that has plagued Midway these past few months.
