With the IBO Light-Welterweight title fight coming to a spectacular close, Manny "The Pacman" Pacquiao emerges with another shiny new belt to add to his collection. It looks like EA Sports called the outcome right, with their Fight Night Round 4 (Xbox 360, PS3) trailer showing a Manny Pacquiao victory by way of knockout. |

Styles make fights. None can be more true for Electronic Arts' boxing marvel, Fight Night Round 4 (Xbox 360 and PS3). It won't matter how good with the controller you are if you don't know how to take full advantage of your boxer's fighting style. What's your style? |

Microsoft will conduct a major Xbox announcement tomorrow (June 5, Tuesday) according to Xbox and Xbox Live Product Manager Aaron Greenberg. The heads-up was given to Gamertag Radio's co-host and co-founder Godfree.Talking to the host via IM, Greenberg's exact words were "We have a secret unveil for gamers around the world that I think will go down in video game history." Quite unfortunately, the MS official was playing tease as he wouldn't divulge anything else to Godfree. While no other information on this announcement is currently available, we can derive some speculations if we follow the product manager's whereabouts. Aaron Greenberg is currently in New York to attend the Pac-Man World Championships. What's interesting is that the original creator of the classic game will also be in attendance. The major announcement, according to Greenberg, will be made at the said event. What bomb has the potential to rock the Xbox community? |

You wanna know who made it to the hot list of Xbox Live for the week of January 8th? Well, you don't have to look far, 'cause we're bringing it right here to you. Sitting at the top three spots are still the same titles, with Gears of War still lording as the ultimate unique users favorite. However, Rainbow Six Vegas managed to grab the second top spot from Call of Duty 3.As for the rest of the top ten, everything remains to be pretty much the same, with the exception of Call of Duty 2 finally being pushed out of the list, and replaced by Project Gotham Racing 3. Moving on to the Arcade hotties, UNO is finally dethroned by Ms. Pacman herself. Meanwhile, Small Arms falls off the list, and DOOM hangs on for dear life at the last spot. Will GoW continue its so-far-uninterrupted-reign, Or will RSV be going for the pot of gold? Will the two racing titles, NFS Carbon and PGR3 race to the top, or will they fizzle before they sizzle? Will Ms. Pacman relinquish her throne to back to UNO? Will Cameron and Justin never get back together again? Stay tuned for the next exciting release of Xbox Live Activity stats. Er--for the last question there, you'd have to go somewhere else, though. Xbox 360 Top Live Titles (UU’s) 1 Gears of War 2 Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six® Vegas 3 Call Of Duty 3 4 Madden NFL 07 5 Oblivion 6 Ghost Recon 3 7 Saints Row 8 UNO 9 Need for Speed Carbon 10 PGR3 Top Arcade Titles (Full Versions) 1 MS.PAC-MAN 2 UNO 3 Assault Heroes 4 Geometry Wars Evolved 5 Texas Hold 'em 6 PAC-MAN 7 Contra 8 Street Fighter II' Hyper Fighting 9 Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 10 DOOM |

There's a little concern lately about Xbox titles going haywire via Major Nelson's list. Call of Duty 2 topped the game chart as the most played Xbox 360 title last week. Doom brought the award home as the most popular Live Arcade title (and 6th in the overall game chart). Most folks would think this is kind of sad knowing the Xbox 360's capabilities, graphics, and controls alike have probably been maxed out already, but some players believe it still offered the next-gen wham at a lesser price compared to the PS3. But that's something we've yet to see, as Sony hasn't released its own weapon against Microsoft. The rest of the Xbox 360's most played titles include Saints Row, Madden NFL 07, Ghost Recon 3, Test Drive Unlimited, Doom, Dead Rising, Oblivion, Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, and Sonic the Hedgehog demo. The best-selling arcade titles next to Doom are Texas Hold 'em, Uno, Hexic HD, TotemBall, Geometry Wars Evolved, Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting, PacMan, Marble Blast Ultra, and Bankshot Billiards 2. |

I bet many of you have downloaded Texas Hold 'em during the 48 hours window when it was free-for-all. Heck, I know I would have, if only my XBL subscription hadn't run out a week earlier. People like free stuff, and that was evident by the fact that more than 100 people were downloading the game every minute!XBOX Live's Aaron Greenberg was interviewed by Podtacular recently, and he admitted the fact that Poker had been a huge hit. "We had more downloads in the first 24 hours than any other item ever on Marketplace. That is a pretty big deal, given all the big demos and videos that have been up from some major franchises." Unfortunately though, this might be a one-off experiment; when asked if more XBL Arcade games would be given out for free, he bluntly refused. "To be honest this is not part of a long term strategy for us, it costs a lot of money to build these games and I am sure a number of people that downloaded it for free would have been willing to pay for it. Think of this as something we did as a thank you to the community for their support. Otherwise, all new Arcade will continue to have a free trial that everyone can download." Now I would've loved it if they did this with Pacman, I've heard that Poker wasn't that great. Still, anything free is good, and although they have denied any plans of doing this in the future, I'd love to see more of these "thank-yous"- even if it's only for a few hours. Anyway, stay tuned for more updates in case there are any. |

According to Xbox Live Arcade worldwide games portfolio manager Ross Erickson, a new game on Xbox Live Arcade every week is very much a possibility for Microsoft, with the Arcade Wednesdays being just the beginning."We certainly have enough games in the pipeline - more than enough, in fact - to achieve that goal on a weekly basis," said Erickson. Including XBLA games, Microsoft aims to have 160 games available for the Xbox 360 by Christmas. Galaga was released today, on August 2 it will be Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting, followed by Pacman on August 9. Titles included in the line-up are Texas Hold 'Em Poker, Sonic the Hedgehog, Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers. Companies like Capcom, Namco and Midway have huge arcade back catalogues, which could make for significant numbers of new XBLA games. Not every developer, however, understands the 50 MB limitation Microsoft has put on XBLA titles. This is to allow 360 owners without a hard drive to store games on their 64 MB memory units. While Sony hasn't revealed many details regarding their own online service, Microsoft's restriction could prove as an obstacle when the two companies will be competing head-to-head. Should Microsoft consider making bigger memory units, the 50MB limitation might become obsolete as well. According to Erickson "certainly those memory units are not available yet. And when they become available we'll re-evaluate". |
