We played the demo and we loved it; just imagine our excitement now that Sierra Entertainment announced TimeShift has gone gold and is ready for shipment. October 30 marks the highly anticipated release of the title developed by Saber Interactive to the Microsoft Xbox 360 and PC, while the Sony PlayStation 3 version is expected to appear on shelves this December.Apart from futuristic weapons, legions of enemy soldiers, and next-gen graphics that are present in most first-person shooters of late, TimeShift gives players the ability to control time. Your usual Hollywood-esque run-and-gun experience will be littered with puzzles that can be solved by slowing, stopping, or even reversing time. In battle, making things go slow proves to be a lot more effective than going bullet time since you still maintain normal speed while everything lags behind. When you freeze enemies on their tracks, it's also possible to steal their weapons and knock them out before they know what hit them. We can't even begin to enumerate the many ways to exploit time reversal, but it sure is cool to see things unwind while you're unaffected. Buy: [TimeShift (Xbox 360)] Buy: [TimeShift (PC)] |

Yes folks, it's just one more week to go
before Leipzig runs abuzz with various entities in the game industry.
The Games Convention Developer's Conference (GCDC) and Games Convention
(GC) is taking a hint from this year's Game Developers' Conference, and
organizers expecting to be the biggest gaming event in Europe - all by itself.
Correspondents from The Official Weblog for GC 2007 Leipzig have stepped into the massive Exhibition Center to investigate just how big GC 2007 may be in a week. And if organizer Leipziger Messe's announcements weren't ambitious enough, publishers and developers have been busy at work to make their presence just as significant as the European-centered event. They've identified stands from Sony (lots of them, plus a whirpool generator?), Electronic Arts, Midway, Blizzard Entertainment, Codemasters, Saber Interactive, GOA, EA Mythic, Global Star Publishing, and LucasArts, among others. There are stands in the event that have yet to be assembled, but that's subject to change in the coming days. Don't expect Nintendo to make a showing, though. About a few months ago, Saber Interactive is a video game developer based in Saint Petersburg, Russia. They focus on first person shooter games. It released the game Will Rock in 2003, and is currently developing another game called TimeShift.">Saber Interactive's TimeShift for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC got pulled into the proverbial wormhole for some major design revamps. Aside from several tweaks to the game's mechanics and graphics, the team was also going to integrate the Havok 4.5 physics engine, which was hoped to bring out even more of the game's potential.
Now, in case you're wondering how the title's looking in light of its overhaul (and previous trailers), we've pick up a new gameplay trailer for your viewing pleasure - and it's just in time for E3 2007. Currently published by Sierra Entertainment, TimeShift is expected to launch this Fall. Keep an eye out in case we hear more details. |

Saber Interactive is a video game developer based in Saint Petersburg, Russia. They focus on first person shooter games. It released the game Will Rock in 2003, and is currently developing another game called TimeShift.">Saber Interactive, the guys behind the Sierra's chrono shooter for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, was given an entire year to patch up a game that was reportedly plagued with "seven bugs." But following a year's delay, TimeShift underwent a complete overhaul.
In an interview with IGN, it has been revealed that the game's visual appeal took an "up close and personal" feel, sporting immense detail and darker theme than before. But that's not all. The game also endured the trashing of four entire levels, overall character redesigns, tweaking to time control mechanics and gameplay, integration of the Havok 4.5 physics engine and a painful revamp of the entire graphics engine. But why go through all that trouble? That's because Saber considered TimeShift's old iteration as uncompetitive in a "post-Unreal Engine 3" world. Also Saber's Kyle Peschel explained that gamers didn't quite get the "Steam Punk" bit, and believes that they've done well with the new face of TimeShift. A few of the maps have even been made larger. Physics have been improved that an enemy's gibs won't just fly over the place, they'll flip-flop and dance around until they land. New scripting made enemies more lifelike in their mannerisms, while Saber Interactive hopes to deliver the title balanced in performance and features over all platforms. |

A new trailer for Saber Interactive's time-traveling first person shooter, TimeShift, is now available on the game's official site. While we'd like to try some fancy source code sifting to attempt to embed the flash player on the site onto this blog post for your enjoyment, we won't. Some guy named William of Ockham did say that the simplest solution tends to be best, so here's a YouTube video for your ocular observation:
This game was originally set to be published by Atari, but is now going to be published by Vivendi. After multiple delays, the game is now scheduled for a Fall 2007 release in both North American and European territories. TimeShift is expected for both the PC and the Xbox 360. |

Apart from yesterday's rumor of it coming to the Sony PS3, it has been a pretty slow news year so far for TimeShift. Things look to be picking up, though, because we managed to get some new screenshots for the game courtesy of Jeux France. You can check 'em out above and below. In case the lack of updates has caused you to forget about this game (which is a shame, as it's looking pretty good), here's a little refresher. TimeShift is an FPS title for both the Xbox 360 and PC platforms developed by Saber Interactive and published by Vivendi Games. Perhaps the coolest thing about TimeShift is the main character's ability to manipulate time. Players can slow down, stop, and rewind the whole world around them and they can move about freely while their enemies and other game objects lie frozen in time. TimeShift also throws some puzzle-solving action into the mix, featuring several complex time control puzzles as part of the gameplay. A specific U.S. release date for TimeShift has yet to be announced. European gamers can expect this game to drop before the year ends. |

The independent game development studio Saber Interactive, who is responsible for video games like TimeShift and Will Rock, is happy to announce that it just hired one of the industry's veterans to head Saber's game content division. That guy is Rick Raymo and he sure has a lot under his belt.
Raymo has been working in the video game industry for 19 years now, and about 30 titles are credited under his name. Some of the more notable ones include Duke Nukem 3D projects, Blood, Shadow Warrior, Death Rally and Max Payne. The creative director also used to work with companies such as I.D.G., GT Interactive, GameSpy, Red Jade, Interactive Studio Management, and Hudson Soft. Before Rick Raymo accepted his new post at Saber, he was working with HBO Interactive Entertainment as a production executive, and was responsible for spearheading efforts to create interactive properties out of the company's internal licenses. Saber's new guy wasn't able for comment, but the company mentioned that Rick Raymo is more than happy to join them. He will be stationed at Saber's HQ in New Jersey and from time to time, he will also be making his rounds in Saber's production studio in St. Petersburg, Russia. Most of his work will be focused on the design and production team who are working on current and upcoming next generation titles. Welcome aboard Saber's ship Rick Raymo! |
