UFC president Dana White once recognized EA Sports to be a great publisher, having produced successful sports game franchises such as FIFA, NASCAR, Tiger Woods PGA, and Madden NFL. White wanted the Ultimate Fighting Championships to have its own video game and join those ranks, so he went to the EA Sports hoping for a deal. Unfortunately, EA did not believe in MMA, so they turned White down, saying that the UFC is "not a real sport."

Back in E3 at the LA Convention Center, Electronic Arts announced their brave new stab into the mixed martial arts gaming scene, EA Sports MMA for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The game is going to be developed by the guys who handled Madden and Tiger Woods, EA Tiburon, with the promise that the game will feature a wider variety of moves and fighting styles than the ones we've already seen. Lego Batman: The Video Game debuts this week in second place.
