Hannibal - Image 1Big movies sell games. They may not necessarily be good games, but they sell. Some have chosen to avoid the genre altogether, choosing to stop buying video games based on movies. It spares them of potential heartache, but there are always exceptions to the rule.

Which of course begs the question: What movies have come and gone without getting themselves a video game?

QuickJump QuickList - Image 1It's an endless debate when talking about girls playing the same video games guys play. They say girls only like MMORPGs, then follow up with "there are no girls on internet." Others believe female gamers stick to casual games, but Mario and Pokemon titles have more fanboys than fangirls.

No matter what your stand is, here's a list of non-girly games that aren't Barbie, Bratz, or any of those glamorous stuff.

Vampire Rain - Image 1

It's been a while since we last saw Vampire Rain screens, but IGN featured seven new ones and we thought we'd post them as well. These screens are exclusively for the Microsoft Xbox 360 game console and they're looking pretty scary indeed.

The story places you in the combat boots of a special forces operative whose unit is tasked to hunt down the bloodthirsty creatures of the night before they can get their hands on the public and plunge the world as we know it into chaos.

Using clever and modern weaponry, your primary mode of operation is to determine where the vampires dwell, take your assault rifle, make their rib cages the new home of your bullets, and make them wish they stuck to blood banks for their needs. We'll fill you in when new details are at hand.

TGS 2006

The TGS 2006 official trailer for Artoon's Vampire's Rain shows a bit more than its E3 version. For one thing, we actually get to see more gameplay bits instead of just being flooded with CG cut-scenes. Based on what we have in the video, the game looks like a weird amalgamation of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas, Splinter Cell, and Saint's Row, only this time you're up against vampires with powers instead of normal thugs with guns.

Note that I only said Saint's Row because I assume, emphasis on assume, that it's a free roaming environment (if it isn't please correct me). Hey, there was word before that full-scale maps of LA will be used for the game and that a gracious amount of freedom will be given to the players. It could be that they've just got really really big maps for the stages.

The title of the game is very apt as the creators have said that rain will be a very important element during gameplay. It only rains every now and then in LA (the area where the game is set), and unlucky for you, rain is the only natural element (that we know of so far) that damages the vampires in the game.

The reports on the playable demo sort of say that the game feels very lukewarm. Not hot, but not cold either. Anyway it's still a demo so it's far too early to pass judgement on the game. Click on the video below and see for yourself.

Oblivion

Just like they promised yesterday, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has received its next content pack, The Vile Lair and it is now available on the Marketplace. In the new content pack you will get a new lair, Deepscorn Hollow, which is an asylum for the wicked, a refuge from the persecution of the virtuous because it is designed for evil characters - namely vampires. The Vile Lair cost 150 Microsoft Points, but it includes a 'cattle pen' where vampires can go out to dine if you didn't feel like giving up your blood sucking ways. So if you want to add a little extra to your Oblivion game time go ahead and check the new content out on the Marketplace.
