Electronic Arts recently gave out the the first car list for its video game Need For Speed ProStreet, and its looking pretty sweet. Each car is said to be "selected for a reason", whether because it is "unique, aspirational, memorable or highly desirable".

A big addition to the car list is the Nissan GT-R PROTO (pictured at right). This is the first time it has ever been featured in any game. It was first revealed at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show and really turned heads when it came out.

Another car that most people would probably want to take a spin in is the 2008 BMW M3. Personally, I'd still go for the 1999 Mazda RX-7, but then I've always been a Mazda fanboy. Anyway, we're sure most of you are pretty excited about the selection so here's the list.

Need For Speed ProStreet is slated for release on the PSP, PS2, PS3, Wii, DS, Xbox 360, PC, and Mobile this year. Keep checking back for more updates on this game.

 

It looks like Activision is really building up the hype over Transformers: The Game. They have released one (yes, one) screen of the movie tie-in. We don't usually cover single-screened updates but such is the anticipation for this 80s icon that we can't possibly ignore the teeniest bit of news about it (that or we're just goaded by the voice of ultimate Transformers geekdom).

The movie will hit the silver screen this July, though there hasn't been any announcements regarding the game's release. Check out the solitary screen, can you tell which Autobot it is? (insert Jeopardy theme here.) It's Bumblebee. Remember that VW Bug? Yeah, that Volkswagen Beetle. He's been upgraded into a Chevrolet Camaro in the live action movie.

Activision hints on more Transformers: The Movie info and possibly a proper unveiling. Stay tuned.

But to really get to know what Forza Motorsport 2 is all about, we gotta take a good, hard look at its core - the cars. A few days back, we talked about the 2002 Enzo Ferrari and Maserati's 2004 MC12. Now that we've dished out what the Italian auto manufacturers have to offer, we will now talk about the cars of Forza 2 from the German car-makers - Volkswagen and BMW.

There you have it, some automotive goodies from two respected German car-makers. The game would be racing its way to North American store shelves this May, while Europe would have it by May 30.

Okay, so Cars for the Xbox 360 has been out on retail for around half a month now, and reviews for the game have been so-so. Mainly because there's a lot of online sentiment that the Xbox 360 version doesn't really have anything new in it.

So why bother with the Demo version? Well for one thing it's still a game that your kids (and by kids I mean the really, really young ones) might end up liking. More importantly, the demo is free. If you've got an Xbox 360 around and you don't really want to spend on some newer retail game for your 7 year old, the Cars demo is a must-download for you. I'll let Miss Kristine C. tell you why.

On the two mini-games available on the demo
Kristine C: The demo is sweet but may be a little too much on the short side since it only contains two mini-games, one of which involves racing, and the other, er... tractor-tipping. But then again, despite the lack of variety in this sampler, it's still good enough to keep kids happy for a good while since the mini-games are still worth more than several spins, even for grown-ups. The fact that the game is also based on a Pixar film, which your offspring has probably seen, is a plus.

Ian C: Yeah, kids either get really bored really quickly or when they end up liking something they'll repeat it forever. Remind yourself of that Lion King DVD that the little squirt in your household kept playing on... and on... and on. Either the kids will keep playing that race game or they'll ask you to buy the thing. If they do, you can at least delay the little devils with the demo. Like feeding food pellets to hamsters.
